Thanks for the reply. I used most of my leaves from work since I spent this past holidays with her. Oh well. I will be picking her up at the Honolulu Intern. Airport. I hope so too she does not experience a delay at the NAIA.

I suppose I can just go through the exit and request to meet her there at the immigration section. Any specifics on how I can go about in doing this? How is Maria adapting here in Hawaii? I plan to give my fiancee a tour of the island.. after she has overcome her jet lagged and crazy schedule as she is preparing to fly out next week. So much things for her to do yet back in Manila.

Bangus, Yes, she will have to pay the 1620 Peso travel tax. The desk is directly in front of the x-ray machines after entering the Terminal 2 and yes the security fee has started, so now a total of 750 peso departure/security fee prior to gettig to the immigrations desk. I hope they are not 3 hours delayed liek we were.

Remember, she needs to carry her x-ray with her as the POE will take it from her and she need to go to the far left at the end of the immigrations section. There will be a desk there with 2-3 immigrations officers taking the K-1 envelope and the x-rays then they will call her to the individual CO booth... you can request to enter to meet her if you are not flying back with her. Good luck, Ken and Maria

Aloha to all. I have two quick questions to ask. Recently, we made a change to my fiancee reservations with PAL. Fortunately there was no change in the price of the air fare so we only paid the rebooking fee of just $25. We paid the rebooking fee at the PAL center in Makati. The PAL office issued her a paper ticket. My question is, will she be asked to pay the travel tax at the airport? I assume she still needs to. I paid the original eticket through expedia.com. My second question is that I've read on VJ the security fee of 200 pesos will go in effect at the beginning of the year but some members had left the country in Jan without having to pay the security fee in addition to the terminal fee of 550 pesos. Is the airport now charging this security fee? :) Mahalo!

Gary, if you piurchased the tickets online and through a U.S. agent/online, they will have to pay an additional 1620peso at the airport for each ticket. It is easy, there is a desk that actually has a sign stating "Travel Tax" in each of the terminals. No, I never noticed them before either until we left on 24 Feb and I actually looked for them. If Luz had purchased the tickets from an agency in the PI, the tax would be included already. Good luck, and Happy Easter, Kan & Maria
Luz and Robin just finished their CFO. I guess everything is ready for an April 6 reunion!

Question- What is this travel tax? I bought her ticket directly from NorthWest. Is there more she has to pay? I know the airport fee is now 750php but is there something else?

I bought the tickets directly from NW. It's the same arrangement that I always use when I go there. Is this just for Filipinos traveling or anyone that leaves PI? She said they mentioned that at her CFO to be sure the tax is paid.

Thats weird. I have never paid that tax. Is this something that only Filipinos have to pay? What happens if they don't pay it? I just called NW and they said that all taxes have been included except the airport tax (750php tax). What is right?

RE: HAND CARRYING XRAYS FOR PORT OF ENTRY.

Hi everyone. Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents on this. I have been reading the FAM. Yes thats what I do in my spare time now.

In the FAM it refers to this. However it mentions only TB patients are required to do this. It doesnt get in to great detail but it seems to apply to TB patients who either have inactive TB or have undergone treatment for it. If this is the case the person would be required to have follow up in the US by probably both their own private physician and a panel physician.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Yes it's a Travel Tax for Filipinos only, P1620. We paid it at the airport. Apparently you can get a one-time waiver but we couldn't figure out how to get it so we just paid the tax.

This is in addition to the P550 terminal fee and P200 security fee that everyone must pay.

Ok, you guys have got me curious. My fiancee doesn't have the internet at her home, just at her work. I have unlimited internet here. So how does it work? Does she have to be online for us to talk? or just me?

She has to have DSL connection at home or wherever u would like the put the Vonage device.. You both have to have vonage for unlimited calling (US and CANADA) and no, you dont have to be online to talk. you just need the Vonage Device, DSL connection and Telephone (cordless or corded) to talk. :)

by the way, Happy Trip to ate Ana!!! and Im leaving tomorrow to meet my fiance, Wohooooo!

-TeSsA-

Vonage has many local numbers. So you dont really need a vonage phone if you have a regular land line. She just needs the Vonage phone so you can dial a USA number and not have to dial long distance. It works basically like a regular phone. You get a regular local telephone number. Well if she doesnt have internet. Look into how much it would cost for dsl. My fiancee dsl cost 1000 peso a month through PLDT. Really quite cheap actually.

Good luck
