Are any of the fiancees out there claiming, if any, their deposit into the govt SSS, Philhealth and Pag-ibig. After all most of us will give up our PI citizenship.. Is this hard to do?
Hi fellow Vjers,

I would like to share with you my experience with Pag-Ibig. A month before my visa interview date (Feb 13), I dropped by Pag-Ibig to follow up the processing of refund of my brother who had moved to Canada and is now a citizen. In the process of waiting for the check to be released and filling up the waivers and quitclaim, I sort of quipped that I am also planning to stay in the USA if I get a fiancee visa.

The lady Ms. Pearl was so gracious to inform me that I just need to present my fiancee visa and accomplish some of the forms including a history of the dates and employers so they can trace your benefits. And this is just so easy...they even have the affidavit form that you just fill out and have it notarized, attach a photocopy of your visa, and in 3 days, you get a check in your name as refund of your contributions.

I am still amazed at their efficiency.

And for the SSS refund, they need to see that you are already 60 years old and you will have to open a bank account for them to deposit your benefits, and after one month, they will make out the check to you and they will credit your bank account monthly for your pension.

I have no idea about Philhealth.

Feel free to call me at 09229224000 until March 3. I leave on March 4 for Wisconsin for a wedding on March 10.

Maria

I asked refund too. I had 65 months of contribution,I claimed it the day before I left Iligan City.As for my SSS and Phil health,I'll continue paying it as voluntary payee. :P

hi mar, how come i havent shared it to you? It's my 3rd time to avail Page ibig loan Cos my co-teachers always encouraged Us, they say other people will use our contributions.I'm not sure if there's an online transaction, but I do Know, someone can claim your contribution but you will be the one who will apply the loan.Try asking them. Tell your family to inquire for you. They have phone numbers in the directory.Sayang din yun.

For anyone who has parked at LAX, how easy or difficult was it to find a parking spot that had an hourly rate?

Are there any places that you'd recommend or any places to avoid?

Thank you in advance! :star:

I have that one bookmarked already. Thank you though! :star: According to ifly, LAX has over 22,000 short term parking spaces, but your right - Friday night is going to busy. I'm hoping to get over there by about 7:30pm (I have to drive from OC) - just hope it doesn't take an hour to park. Yeaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh....guuuhhuuuuuuuuu...:blush:

I dont know if anyone has mentioned this before. It was on my mind and I thought I would tell everyone. I keep seeing people on the forums complaining about high telephone bills.

I dont know if you ever heard of vonage. I had vonage send me a phone I configured it to use with her internet and then sent it to the philippines. I talk to my many many hours a night. Every night. The best part is that I only pay 25 bucks a month for unlimited calling. I tryied useing yahoo messanger to call but it didnt work so well. The thing about vonage is that its hardware based VOIP; so it never goes through your computer. Also you connect a regular phone to it so you dont have to be stuck at your computer. There has been like 2 times in the past two months when her internet was so slow I could hear her very well but other than that it works so so well. Her internet dsl even has bad connection and it still works very well.

Hey I just thought I would mention it. If anyone wants to talk about it feel free to contact me.

Sheriff, Question about the SS-5 for the SSAN application... Block 3, I assume K-1/3 unless you received an EAD at the POE will check Legal Alien Not Allowed to Work???? In the directions it ask for proof of the Alien status to be sent with the aplication. Di you send in the K1 Visa (with passport) or just a copy of the I-194? I hope I am not the only one that could not figure this out  ... Ken & Maria

Well, my wife (then fiancee) applied for her SSN two weeks after she arrived (maiden name). It took one week for her to receive her SS card. She applied for her SS card after we were married and it arrived in about five days. Conversely, my wife's friend who applied for her SS card after she was married has been waiting for three weeks now and still does not have her card. This may either be a coincidence or what I call blind irony. The only problem is the SSN, at least here in California, is not given at the point the beneficiary applies. SS cards are free of charge so the only thing that is spent is time in applying. Either way, your beloved will eventually receive her SS card. Just make sure that you get it done before the I-94 expires or your wife will have to wait until the AOS is approve to have the SS card updated to her married name.

Cheers!!!

Hi! I have vonage too. My fiance sent me one and it works so great! We were spending alot on phone cards and we were so happy when we heard about vonage and subscribed asap. We talk as much as we want now and I also get to talk to my other friends in the states. Whats best about it is that i can leave it here in the Philippines and I will be able to talk to my family and call them anytime I want especially if i miss them.

Ok, you guys have got me curious. My fiancee doesn't have the internet at her home, just at her work. I have unlimited internet here. So how does it work? Does she have to be online for us to talk? or just me?

Yes! You may check Legal Alien Not Allowed to Work. Maria's SS Card will have "Valid for work only with DHS authorization." Once Maria receives her AOS approval, re-apply for the SS card and it will be absent of that note. Cheers!!!
