At any rate, FedEx is very reliable. It usually takes 3-4 working days to deliver from US to the PI. It's only been 1 and a half working days since he sent it so you're still within the time frame. Expect to receive it Feb. 15 the latest.

When you say "Evidence of Support" are you referrign tot he 134 Affidavit of Support? If so they need the notorized copy but I would still fax a copy to her just in case. If you r referring to "Support" as in the requirement for K3/CR-1, you are interviewing for the K-1 right? If I am not mistaken, for the K-1 you only need the 134 Affidavit of Support and if you make 125% of the poverty level or more, they will likely not ask for bank statement and such... Ken

Please do it online. No sense taking any unnecessary chances. They clearly ask that you do it online. Do it and remove one possible doubt.

Ditto. It's not worth taking a risk to fill up the DS in the packet only to realize at interview that consul will not accept it. Play it safe, do it on-line.

Starting 01 November 2006, ALL nonimmigrant visa applicants must use the online Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF) or DS-156 Form. The EVAF is free of charge, will speed up the processing of visas, and reduce waiting time. It is also easy to use because it is the same application form that is currently used, except it is online.

Handwritten or typed visa applications will no longer be accepted by the Nonimmigrant Visa Unit in Manila. If applicants do not have an EVAF on the day of their scheduled interview, they will have to reschedule their interview through the Call Center or through the VisaPoint™.

With the talk a little earlier about the SSN: Is the 10 day wait for applying for a US SSN, required, upon entering the US? Or can a person apply for it immediately upon arrival to the USA?

My understanding, that for the work permit, a k-1 person must wait until after the marriage occurred. Or is that simply part of the AOS process?

The two week waiting period is to allow enough time for your fiancee's name to be entered in the system. She can apply for it in her maiden name two weeks after her arrival and if the state that you're in requires the SSnumber for the marriage license. But if it's not required and you're planning on getting married soon after she arrives here, then she can wait till after the wedding to apply for it. That way, you save the hassle of dealing with the SSA people again in getting her name changed in the SSN card.

But, you might also want to check in advance how long it will take till you get the certified copy of your marriage certificate. You will need that when she applies for the SSN in her married name. It will just be horrible if it takes, say a month, before you get your certified marriage certificate and the validity of her K-1 visa is almost up. If that will be the case, then it will be better to apply in her maiden name as she won't be able to apply for an SSN with an expired K-1. She will have to wait till she gets her greencard or work permit

There are ways of going about it just be sure to take into consideration the timing of everything.

For the work permit, you can only apply for that when you apply for the AOS and you have to wait till after the wedding for that.
