Manila Embassy Interview

I apologize if this has already been talked about before, but I'd like to know who here was able to have the beneficiary purchase their plane tickets in the Philippines?

I am hoping to have Jinky purchase her plane ticket through a travel agent the day after her interview.

I remember someone posted earlier that if your fiancee purchases the tickets, the travel agent will ask to see her Visa.

If that is the case, how are we able to purchase plan tickets far enough in advance to get the cheapest tickets available?

In our case, I purchased the plane ticket in advance thru PAL and Jhen picked it up from the Ticketing Office (where she paid the travel tax). However, she could only pick up the ticket after receipt of the visa. I am not aware of how the travel agencies handle ticket purchases in the Phil.

Cheers!!!

There are two unavoidable taxes. The travel tax of 1620 PHP for domestic and business flights, and the airport tax/fee of 520 PHP that is paid before the traveler reaches customs at the airport.

Hello,

My wife is buying her ticket Friday so I'll let you know what happens. She already reserved the ticket at Northwest without a visa, so I'm not sure but we will see if they sell it to her Friday. Thanks,

Gary

If I buy the ticket, there is a US Tax of about $107 USD per ticket, whereas if Jinky were to purchase the ticket, she would only have to pay the Philippine taxes (1650 and 200 pesos) - am I understanding this correctly?

The PAL ticket office in Davao told Yazi to expect to pay 750p; 550p airport fee and the new security fee 200p.

I did find a way to pay the travel tax here. I know you're not suppose to be able to and everything I read said you couldn't. I booked thru LBC Travel which said they could collect the tax. I was skeptical, but the PAL ticket office in Davao said that it had been paid. all Yazi had to do is get the reduced tax certificate for her daughter which cost 200p.

now my interview is next week and im getting nervous...worried about a few things:

my fiance is self-employed, he gave me his 3yrs ITR and 3 yrs W-2 plus letter with the letterhead and his position in his own office. He sent his bank statements and a letter also, but in his last 12months statement (up to Dec.), his remaining bal is not that much. He has spent his savings for some important things. Would this affect my interview?

also, age gap would really contribute to AR? worried huhu

fel

Hey Fel,

My statement was very low also, but the also had list a Average Daily Balance on it. But it was not asked for for our case.

El was asked about our age gap, but we have no idea if that was why we were put under our AR.

First off.... Thanks to all of you helping me with questions and just being supportive.... Don't know what I would do without this forum and you folks :bonk: !!

Now... I was wondering when you book a flight to go to either your physical or your interview.....

Do you only buy a one way ticket? And then do you just go to he airport and buy one when you are ready to go home?

Or do you buy a round trip ticket?

Since I'm not sure what time Lorna's physical will be over on the second day, I'm not sure what time to buy the return ticket for. And it seems like the earlier times are a little cheaper.

What do you do?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi everyone,

Well Jasmin and my stepdaughter are at the embassy right now waiting for thier names to be called.....its gonna be a long evening waiting for hr to call me with the results. I was anxious up till now....now im nervous!!

Dims, Jasmin booked a round trip ticket. She flew into manila last thursday early in the am..and took medical same day, came back the next for immunizations and the interview today, she will fly back tomorrow evening to Cebu. You can usually get better price on a round trip.

Good luck Jazzy!!! Finally, your time has arrived. I'll be feeling exactly the same here in few weeks.

Dims, my asawa is taking the 24 hour "road tour" on a bus from northwestern Leyte thru Tacloban across to Samar and onward to Manila probably on Feb 19. She expects arrival in Manila the next day, will check into a hotel of her choice near St. Luke's, then begin her medical on Wed, finish on Thurs, go see her big brother and sister in law after that, then grab the bus on Friday to return home on Saturday. Will be a very long week for her. She's got a friend to accompany her on the journey.

She'll do the same a day or two before her interview, and then she'll stay at her brother's in Manila for faster visa delivery. I've already booked my trip for arrival in Manila on Mar 25 to meet her. Then we'll do CFO and go back down into the provinces for a few days, via air this time. Her college graduation is Mar 30, so this entire adventure couldn't have been choreographed any better. We're taking the long plane ride to America on April 5, her birthday!!! Geez, I hope this all works out...

Question for Manila area VJ members - any recommendations on a decent safe and clean hotel near the airport? She'd like something not too elegant this time. I had booked a room at Manila Hotel during my visit last year and it overwhelmed her. She's a very simple girl.

BTW, I checked Cebu Pacific fares online today for Mar 28 Manila to Tacloban. It was only 1800 php roughly. The actual fare is 688 and the tax is about 1100. Can that be correct???? Philippine Air was over 3000php, which seems about right.

Thanks all!!
