Bah! I am such a dumb-azz! I told Luz to print out the filled out DS 157 to take to the bank. When she came back she told me that they would not stamp the back of her form I asked what she got for the $200 and she said a receipt and a piece of paper with a stamp on it. Here is where I screwed up. I didn't ask her what was on the other side of the paper. Its a blank DS-157! Sorry guys, I'm going a bit nuts here trying to get it all in one sock.

What do we do now? The bank refused to do anything with the DS-157 that she took with her. Am I out the $200 for her and Robin?

I wouldn't think your out the $200. The instructions in the K1 packet has always said the bank will "validate" the DS-156 form, but the Bank has always validated the incorrect DS-157 form anyway. I believe the embassy looks for the receipt instead of the validated form due to that confusion. (something lost in translation I suspect)

Someone has their wires crossed. I did a little more digging. Here is another page from the Embassy web site.

DS-157 Form – Applicants should also complete the Nonimmigrant Visa Supplemental Application DS-157 Form. The form is provided at the bank where fees are paid. Applicants must ensure that the back of the DS-157 Form is machine-validated with check-rite. The U.S. Embassy does not validate DS-157 Forms.

Applicants whose DS-157 Form is not machine-validated with check-rite will NOT be allowed to enter the Embassy premises. The applicant will then have to book another interview appointment. Re-bookings do not require another application fee.

Is this just out of date info on the embassy web site or is it current policy?

Gary, Mira paid her interview fee at the BPI in Butuan City 2 weeks ago. They gave her a stamped receipt on the back of a blank DS-157 and a separate receipt which she asked for.

That there is some funny stuff. The crazy thing is, the g-string gets cinched again very shortly when you do the AOS thing. This immigration process is not for the weak.

Dims1 - congrats on getting the interview. i knew you'd still be part of our "batch"

with all this talk of bank statements and additional evidence i went ahead and got a letter from my bank. i went to a local branch and ask them to type a letter up. my bank couldn't get me a year's worth of deposits, only the last 6 months. so it included that, current balance as of date when the letter is typed up, and date when the account originally opened. now i am employed and make over 125% poverty but have a business on the side. i just started it last year so this will be the first time i will include it in my taxes. am i considered self-employed also? aside from the letter, i'll be bringing my 2006 paycheck stubs and since my work already sent me my W2, i'll be bringing that as well. as sheriff uling says, "It's always better to have more than less... " i will also bring a copy of the W7 form that my wife sent me and will be filing with my taxes. i'm gonna slam them with so much evidence, it'll prove OJ and Kobe guilty!

also shipped the Packet 4 via FedEx. cost me about $48 California -> Makati and will get there by Friday 12PM (PI time) assuming no problems with customs.

try buying a box of Tootsie roll pops! That worked for me about 15 yrs ago.

Gave me something to stick in my mouth besides a butt and you can play with it in your fingers instead of a cigy. worked great for me.

Ended only eating about 1/4 of the box but it was there when I needed them :-)

Hi, I can't believe it! The interview notice came in the mail today. I only saw it on the website yesterday!!

The notice was dated Feb.1....

What happened was... I was typing in the case number WITH the "-".

Yeah, it's hard to stick with it with all thats going on but so far I am making it.

Gary, I had my fiancee fill in the blank DS- 157 the bank gave her when she paid the money and she has put that page with the 2 other Ds-157's she is going to present to the interviewer. The interviewer will probably make her fill it in anyway, so she has it done ahead of time. Her interview is Feb 13th. (day before Vallentines Day.) I will let you know if it is necessary for your fiancee to fill in the blank DS-157 after my fiancee has had her interview.

it s a dry seal.my seal is not so clear too.check the lower left corner of the paper, i only see half of the seal on my paper

Sounds good, but then again, it depends on the consul. Not to worry though, I've never heard of anyone being put in AR due to dry seal problem in their NBI clearance. You should be okay.

ds-156k - there should be a signature below "do not write below this line" part..(its a must!)

On the DS-156K it says "DO NOT WRITE BELOW THIS LINE" and then "the consular office will assist you in answering this part". I take this to mean it needs to be signed in front of the officer, no?

I'm not sure what other beneficiaries did but I followed instructions in the DS forms so I did not write below the line as instructed and waited until the consul told me to sign it. I agree that the signature "is a must" but I think you need to wait until the consul asks you to sign.

Jinky and her son Job flew out of Cebu this morning to Manila where she will go to St. Luke's on Thursday for her medical exam. They'll be staying in Manila until the interview on Feb. 16th!

After all the preparation, we've both have tried to just think positive and not let any negative thoughts cross our minds - trusting that everything will work out fine.

Thank you! I know a lot of us are getting the 11th hour jitters, but you do the best you can with preparation and then trust that the process will go smoothly from there. To those who are approaching your interviews - keep your chin up and think positive!

My fiancee is texting me at work right now wondering if she will exchange some US dollars for pesos for the VISA application fee and medical. I vaguely remember when I saw the packet 4 instructions, it indicated it can be paid at least for the VISA fee in dollars or the peso equivalent. Is that so for both? Mahalo..Hawaiian style :-).
