Manila Embassy Interview

I'd like to get everyone's experience with the VISA Enbassy pick-up question. It appears to me that so far we know this:

1. It's the discretion of the Consular Officer to allow the pickup.

2. It's more likely you will get approval of your request for pick-up if the the petitioner is there.

I also wonder what could be the reason of the CO to disallow pick-up. Any thoughts on this? I mean there must be some reason, logical or not.

For the benefit of the four or five CR-1s here who are all coming to the finish line very soon (we all have case completion dates between 11/15 and 11/17, and dims who is 2 weeks behind), I've almost become a nusance with NVC calling more frequently than I'd like asking about interview appointment schedule updates. Again with this morning's call, no news. However, I was told that NVC will be scheduling March CR-1 interviews during the second week of February, whether right, wrong or indifferent, that's what I was told. All of us are on pins and needles now waiting for any news. Jazzy has an interview on Feb 8, but received their date during the last week of Dec, so we are hoping for the same news this week. If any of us CR-1s hear anything at all this week, please share it. Good luck fellow CR-1s...this agonizing wait is nearly over!!!

yes, everytime i call nvc they always tell me the same thing also, that cr-1 is scheduled the 2nd week of the month for the following month. but i think they just say that so i won't call them so much (doesnt work, lol). but that is not the experience we see of juncel or jazzy. juncel had a jan appt, so according to nvc he should have been scheduled 2nd week of december, yet he found out late nov, and jazzy has feb appt so he should have been scheduled 2nd week of jan, but he was notified late dec, so no rhyme or reason to the system. we will certainly post when we have news of our interview. good luck to all!

Just a wild A$$ guess, but I would think those that live locally to the embassy would have the least chance for a pick up approval.

I see, maybe the reasoning of the CO for local applicants is that delivery for them would only take an extra day or two, and adds extra work for the Embassy staff for the in-person pick-up?

yup no word here either. my wife stopped calling NVC since the operator asked her if she had been calling everyday  guess the records have dates of when it has been opened/viewed so i guess our case has been opened twice every day since NVC approved us lol.

and yes, they say 2nd week of every month but jazz and juncel's case can't be explained since their cases were sent to manila first and last week of the month  if you look at http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list...es&dfile=No on page 2 and 3, majority didn't get their packets 2nd week of the month

good luck to facechelle. their interview is today

Sounds good Michael,

I come here a few times a day to see if you or any of the other CR-1's have moved along at all. I also hope that our fellow CR-1 friends will keep us updated as well.

Also... let's stay in touch regarding airline tickets, hotels, and possibly meeting at or before the St. Lukes physical.

I want Lorna to get hers done early... maybe 1 month before the interview. She will have to fly there from Cebu.

Anyway, any info about ANYTHING would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone! :pop:

Hi all,

CR-1's.....you have to remember that the NVC sets the dates not the embassy as is the case with the K visas. The K interview dates come out the middle of the month....this rule doesnt apply to the CR-1. Now the trend seemed to have been a notification toward the last week of the month for an interview 5 to 7 weeks out. I think the november completions should expect thier notifications any day....don't rely too much on what the NVC says....I called them on dec 27 and they said to interview date yet....but the papers came dec. 30 and they had been generated dec 26th...so you can't rely on what the operator tells you...hopefully they in the mail as we speak.

Soul....my god if we were notified 2nd week of january wewould have just 3 weeks till interview....i think thy will give a bit more time than that.

My wife and step daughter will be leaving for Manila on thursday morning and taking her medical that day...anyone else in manila during this next week send her a pm and maybe you can get together...i'm sure she would appreciate the company and support.

Jazzy

yes, everytime i call nvc they always tell me the same thing also, that cr-1 is scheduled the 2nd week of the month for the following month. but i think they just say that so i won't call them so much (doesnt work, lol). but that is not the experience we see of juncel or jazzy. juncel had a jan appt, so according to nvc he should have been scheduled 2nd week of december, yet he found out late nov, and jazzy has feb appt so he should have been scheduled 2nd week of jan, but he was notified late dec, so no rhyme or reason to the system. we will certainly post when we have news of our interview. good luck to all!

x x x I've almost become a nusance with NVC calling more frequently than I'd like asking about interview appointment schedule updates.

You probably know all the names of the visa specialists at NVC already  About two years ago, the VJ members had all the names and character traits of the visa specialists listed down to a science. It was very, very funny. Here in Manila thread, we only have the famous Lorraine to talk about.

my wife stopped calling NVC since the operator asked her if she had been calling everyday

Been spamming the NVC eh? By the way, are you also “terps76”?

to me this seems so unfair. this isn't a situation where someone is trying something iffy to slip thru the cracks. the Embassy states a court ruling of presumptive death as evidence that a Filipino marriage has been terminated. you go by the rules then at the interview are told, sorry rules have changed.

It really is unfair especially to those who are honest and sincere like Kirk and Jenny who went out of their way to locate the ex-spouse. However, more and more Filipinos go the presumptive death route to "terminate" a marriage even if the spouse is alive as it is less expensive and simpler. I am guessing that too many cases of presumptive death diminished the "credibility" of a court declaration. Manila is considered high-fraud after all so we can see where the embassy is coming from.

I also wonder what could be the reason of the CO to disallow pick-up. Any thoughts on this? I mean there must be some reason, logical or not.

Logical reasoning - the embassy gets 50% commission from the Delbros delivery fee

Abstract and convoluted reasoning - let them endure some more from waiting, they've waited months and years, so what's a few more days?

hmm... that blows up a theory of mine. I was thinking the Embassy has a deal with Delbros to minimize visa pickups at the Embassy since Delbros gets fee to deliver the visas, but isn't paid by the Embassy to deliver the Appointment Packets. could explain why so many seem to have problem receiving their packet. ;)

Hi guys,

For those who are already done with the process, just curious if you have provided a bank certification to accompany the bank statements that you have? And if you guys did, does the bank certification need to be notarized? I'm already preparing the documents for my February interview, hope you can help me on this. Thanks in advance.

the bank letter is recommended. it does not need to be notarized. only the I-134 form needs to be notarized.

How many days does it take for Delbros website to show that the visa has been released to them?

I never had any luck using the Delbros website.

Thank you so much for the information. I'm already done with the I-134. So I guess the bank letter/certification with the usual stamp/seal of the bank or bank official is as good as itself? Well, we better secure that one to be on the safe side. Thanks again.
