Ok I have searched and come up empty. Does anyone have an example of the "Letter of Advice" required for marriage between the ages of 21-25? I know by the Family Code it is only required if applying for a marriage license in the PI, but I read some where that the CFO sometimes ask for these even though it is not required for the visa. Ken & Maria

The CFO people have been known to ask for stuff like divorce papers too. My fiancee took a bunch of extra stuff but they didn't ask for anything except to see some photos of us together.

The blue ink requirement according tot he notary is for the signature only. The rest can be filled out online or electronicaly and printed. The Notary here also used a #2 pencil to shade in the stamp so it would photo copy. Good luck and congrats on the beginning of he next waiting phase. Ken & Maria
I called Manila embassy last night and spoke to a very nice and helpful lady at extension 5184.. She was very patient with me and I was very satisfied with all her answers for most of them seems to be true :) .She assured me that my packet is at their location and that it is in good hands. No interview date set up for us yet..it's still too soon anyway. I wish I'll know who that lady was so I can send her a thank you card or something :D ..it's very hard to find a person who's as helpful as she is when calling the embassy.

I have a question about I-134, can it be typed, sign, notarized & dated or the whole form has to be handwritten with blue ink? I read over at the other thread that someone's visa was delayed because their consul didn't accepted their typewritten notarized I-134. I was planning on typing my I-34 since my handwritting is not that good and it'll be notarized after that.

Thanks!

Hello guys,

i have question here. i did type a wrong answer in our affidavit of support. the answer should be "phillipines" but wat i did write there is the name of our town. i wanted to use white ink eraser and write the correct answer. is it okay to have any erasure? any answer is appreciated. thank u.

if the form is already notarized, no. if not, it is easier just to fill it out again before it it notarized. some notaries will initial and have you initial the correction b4 they notarized. good luck ken

Looks like I'm going to have a 7 hour layover in Manila and I really don't want to sit in the airport for that long. Does anyone know a good place nearby to just hang out. How about a Starbuck's or something like that?

I've never heard of Letter of Advice. Parental advice, offered verbally, happens during "pamanhikan" (when the guy formally seeks the parents' permission to marry his girl). If letter is absolutely necessary (which I doubt), you may want to word it like this:

To Whom It May Concern,

.....We, spouses Juan and Maria dela Cruz, after offering parental advice, have given permission for our daughter, Mary Jane dela Cruz, who is of legal age, to marry her American fiance, John Doe. As parents, we give our blessings, love and support for their happy and successful union.

Juan dela Cruz......................................................Maria dela Cruz

It is only in the Philippine Family Code, Art 15 addressing the age requirements for marriage. 18-21 Require written permission and 21-25 require written parental advice. But the family code does not give an example. The code also clearly state this is a requirement for marriage in the Philippines only... it should not apply to Visas but the inconsistencies at the CFO, we just want to be safe.

Hey Ken,

It is not a problem for me any longer as 2 days after Ana went to the CFO conference, my Ana sent me a good bye letter. The day of the CFO, she started telling me that the ladies at CFO told her that I was looking for a companion. I told her that I was looking for love. Then, she sent me the good bye 2 day later. Confused but this is her decision. The CFO job is to discourage women from leaving their country. I guess that she was too gullible and believed the sweet little nuns.

Only problem for me is that she was my second I-129F petition: Under the new law, a person can only have two approved I-129F petition in their life even if it is for a spouse.

Of course she promised to pay me back for sending her to school and paying for her past education. God will judge her.

Sincerely,

Dr. Joe May

Wow, I am so sorry to hear that she gave you up just because of the CFO seminar. I think you gtwo can still work things out. Talk to her and find out her real feelings for you. I hardly believe that she got brain washed by the seminar. If her love is strong enough she could find a way to fight for it. I am really to hear about this.

Anyway I am going to CFO seminar once I am going to recieve my visa and I really doubt if I still need parental consent and stuff. I am already 23 yrs old and a mother of 4 yrs old boy. It's going to be so crazy if they are still going to ask for parents consent even if I don't live with my parents for over a year now because my fiance is supporting me. But I do want to be prepared though.

My Mom is going to be here IN Manila for Conference so I guess I am just going to pull her and take her with me to the CFO. But what's funny is that hhheeeelllooooo I am already a mother.....why do I still need a parents consent uuuuggghhhhh

what???

she said good bye to you already because of thoe people who just told her negative things?

Wow!!!

Im sorry to say this to you...if she really loves you, she will fight for her love to you and not listen to those people who really dont know both of you and just discourage her for having a relationship with you.

I just hope you will have a heart to heart talk and still save your relationship.

Good luck!

:( sorry to hear that DocMay, surely Ana just being pressured about the clippings/video shown at the seminar and the 1on1 counseling at CFO, Hopefully you two could still talk about the possibility to push this through. God bless!

RiggerAF, goodluck to your CFO ... hope your Mom don't mind going with you, but its a pain in the neck of waiting, although you will know early if she's needed at once. it's just a day and it'll gonna be finished in a day with all you need in CFO.

regards everyone!
