Hi,

Please update our K3: MNL2006783xxx

Amerikano.......10-03-06..10-19-06.. Interview Date: 02-13-2007

Yeah!

Gary

Thanks for the fax number. Is this the main fax number at the USE? Is there another fax number that goes directly into the K1 department for interview requests? I just want to be sure to fax the letter to the right number with as little chance as possible for it getting "lost in the shuffle".

Rob,

The fax number and the all the requirements are listed in the links below. Please read carefully and follow instructions closely as any incomplete information will result in non-action by embassy.

Well as many of you know we are supposedly in the final stretch of our K1 VISA journey but we found a error that is haunting us. We were filling out the DS156K form and noticed that when filling my fiancee name, we made an error in specifying her middle name in the K1 petition, specifically on the G-325A form. In other words, the birth certificate and her PI passport specified the correct middle name while it was incorrectly stated in the G-325A, an oversight by us. Can anyone advise us any corrective steps if you feel it is needed while minimizing any delays in our issuance of the K1 VISA? Sharing of similar experiences will be greatly appreciated. Her interview is scheduled for mid Feb. Thanks in advance for all responses. unsure.gif

P.S. We were wondering what will happen if we did not correct it. We assume it could result in an AR or denial. unsure.gif

Bangus Delight....

No worries!!!

You will not need to correct it, and it should not be an issue. What you can do as a back up is have your fiancee bring the corrected G-325A form (all four pages) to the interview as a back-up (not to submitt to anyone). That way, if the consular officer asks why it's different, you can supply a corrected copy. BUT as I stated before, it is a one in a million chance that the consular officer will even bring it up. Besides your fiancee will need a new G-325A when you apply for the Adjustment of Status (AOS)... so it's kinda like... who cares!!! You will be fine!!!

Cheers!!!

Aloha Uling!

Happy New Year. Initially we thought of going to the interview without making any changes or informing the interviewing consular officer about the error. However, we now think we'll run into problems. The VISA will be issued with the incorrect middle name (as specified under the G-325). It will be in conflict with her passport when she goes through custom when she tries to leave the Philippines. Anyway, our course of action we are pursuing is submitting a name affidavit form. Any suggestion or advise is still welcome.

Well, Jenalyn is finally in Pennsylvania. She arrived saturday night, with the airlines making us wait one final time as the connecting flight from Detroit was delayed a couple hours. Thanks goes out to Carly who let Jen use her cell-phone while waiting in Detroit! Immgration was no problem for Jenalyn, just a couple quick questions, fingerprints and picture, and a "on your way." But, Jenalyn did say it appeared the immigration officers were scrutinizing other immigrants more closely. Maybe it was her prize-winning smile that won the day.

Congrats on being together now. a positive attitude and smile seem to make the process easier. My fiancee thinks that might be part of the reason why she encountered no problem with the interviewer and CO doing her interview. a smile can go a log way... :)

have a wonderful wedding!

Again... no worries!!!

You are putting to much emphasis on the G-325A. If your applications (DS-156, DS-156k, and DS-157) have the correct information (complete name) and that matches your supporting documents (birth certificate, police clearance, NBI clearance, passport, etc...), then you will be OK. Please relax! Just bring the corrected G-325A to the interview just in case the cosular officer inquires, but I'm sure that he/she will NOT. Unfortunately, this is the most stressful part of the entire visa journey. So I completely understand.

As long as your fiancee does not have any overstays, medical complications, or discrepencies on her official documents (birth certificate, police clearance, NBI clearance, passport, ect), and she has a basic knowledge about you enough to answer the interview questions. Then, you will be fine!!!

Bangus Delight....

Again... no worries!!!

Thank you so much uling for your response. I think for our peace of mind, we will still have the affidavit of one and the same person prepared since the packet 4 letter of the embassy cited her name as stated in the G-325A. Do you think it is a good idea to go to the embassy prior to her interview to consult regarding this?again thank you for your support.

I would agree that this is what SHOULD happen, but the USE folks can be rather arbitrary in their own right. Still no explanation for our delay in receiving the visa though all our paperwork was to all observations "perfect" on paper. But if everything is in order as you state, it likely will NOT be denied, but still is "fair game" for AR, security checks, and whatever arbitrary BS the embassy folk want to put you through.

Oh, your fiancee's name is cited incorrectly on the appointment letter. Call the embassy using the information in my signature (please call between 7:30am - 8am) and inform them of the discrepancy with her name. I recommend that you also inform the consular officer so that mistake is not transferred to the visa, which will be an issue because the visa should be complete accurate. Also bring a corrected G-325A, just in case. Relax! This is minor inconvenience that is definitely correctable, and will not be an issue.

Cheers!!!

bangus delight, I think if you do as uling recommends you should be fine. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think it's how the info is entered on the DS-156 that determines how it will be entered on the Visa. they ask that the DS-156 be double checked for accuracy since that info will be entered into the barcode, they scan the barcode at the interview to enter the info into their system.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thank you for much for the assistance. On the Early Interview form, in the first table, second column, what does "confirmation number" mean? What confirmation number?

The embassy call center will provide you with a confirmation number. Here's the link for the steps in scheduling the interview http://usembassy.state.gov/posts/rp1/wwwhniv1.html

Rob, do you plan to re-schedule the interview without waiting for Lilia to complete her medical? I suggest that you wait until after she is done with her medical. Embassy might disregard your request if medical is incomplete.

Errors such as this may also be corrected during interview. Typo errors and honest mistakes are no big deal to the embassy and they usually correct it without making any fuss. But bring the Affidavit of Discrepancy just in case. Not a major issue, as uling said, but must be corrected nevertheless. You'll never know when this "little error" will come back to haunt you. There's still the visa, the POE, the marriage license, SSN, AOS, etc. etc. The G-325 goes to at least 4 government agencies so try to correct the error now to avoid any nightmare it might create in the future.

Thanks for posting your interview experience and for your detailed listing. In your interview you mention that they asked for your Fiancee Employment Certificate , what do you ment by Employment Certificate, I thought this would just be a letter from your Fiancee employer. Also did they ask for a bank account letter do you know idf this is required, did they also ask for your fiancee tax returns for the previous 3 years.

thanks

Are you saying that the DS 156 must be completed on line? my fianceee in the Philippines just received her packet 4 information, which includes the DS 156 156k and 157 so are you saying that she still needs to fill out the 156 on the website. Also do you know which form is required when she goes to the bank to pay her $100 consular fee. thanks for your help

steve

Hey Steve...

I pray that you and yours have a safe and joyful holiday season...

Q: "Are you saying that the DS 156 must be completed on line? ...so are you saying that she still needs to fill out the 156 on the website."

A: Yes! The DS-156 must be completed online to be assigned a specific barcode number, which is shown on page 1 and page 3. Even though the process has changed, the Embassy still sends out the obsolete DS-156 form, which does NOT have the barcodes one it. That is partially why the DS-156 must now be completed online (the other reason is for paper reduction but they continue to send out an obsolete DS-156 form wasting more paper... Go figure... LOL!). The Manilla Embassy has also threatened to reschedule the interview appointment if the beneficiary shows up without a completed online DS-156 form that has the barcodes on it.

Q: "Also do you know which form is required when she goes to the bank to pay her $100 consular fee?"

A: The DS-157 is the form that is validated by the bank when you pay the visa application fee. The bank has the form but you can complete the form, take it to the bank, and request that they validate your form. Or you can take the blank form the bank validates and gives to you (however they have an older version, but it looks exactly like the one issued to your fiancee)...

How this helps...

Cheers!!!

p.s. Just and FYI - You will need two (2) copies of the DS-156 and DS-157... and only one (1) copy of the DS-156K for the interview.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my inquiry, I really appreciate your time and help. Actually the DS 157 form that they sent my fiancee had the bar code on it, so the Manila Embassy apparently is sending out the new barcoded forms since not everyone has access to a computer. Do you know if they still require a bank account letter for the interview or is that optional.

Thanks

Steve
