thanks dave n fleur,

yes i got it! but i wasnt soooo excited as i was when i knew bout my interview date, i even cried and jumped  . yet, im still happy, i could move on now on preparing more of the requirements like visa pics and fees.

by the way, is anybody here from iligan city? there's BPI here but it's not included in the list of banks where to pay the visa...so i have to go to cagayan de oro for the payment..also, just curious if photoshops near the embassy produce good qwuality pics?if not, ill just have my picture taken in CDO too...

planning to have the medical exam on the 25th of january...

I guess I spoke to soon. I was chatting with Luz last night when she got a call from DHL asking for directions to her house to deliver packet 4. Although they called a second time saying they were on the way they never showed. Looks like she will not get it until next week.

Phil-Am K1 Information…

Pre NOA2

(K1 Introduction) - If you are just starting your K1 visa journey, please check out this information provided by the Department of State (DOS) on the K1 visa experience (CLICK HERE). I found this information very insightful when I first started. Please note that the “How to Apply for a Social Security Number Card” section is incorrect because K1 visa beneficiaries can only apply for a SSN card upon arriving into the United States. Please also review VJ's K1 guide (CLICK HERE)

(Case Status) - Once you have filed your case and recieved your case number, please register on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website using the Case Status Online Tool to receive emailed updates concerning your case (CLICK HERE)

Post NOA2

(1). The National Visa Center (NVC) number is within my signature. NVC assigns your case number once your case is approved (NOA2). They also may perform a preliminary background check from what I’ve read then forwards your package/case to the Manila Embassy. This process usually takes anywhere from 14 – 30 days.

(2). The Manila Embassy (USE) Packet 4, the phone number, a visa interview testimony, along with a sample Appoitment Letter are within my signature block. NOTE: Packet 4 can be acquired from the Manila Embassy website which gives directions on what documents are required by the beneficiary for the visa interview. Starting 01 November 2006, ALL nonimmigrant visa applicants must use the online Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF) to complete the DS-156 (Nonimmigrant Visa Application). To date, only the DS-156 has the barcode (on the first and last page) and is the ONLY form available online at http://evisaforms.state.gov. You may complete the DS-156K (Nonimmigrant Fiance(e) Visa Application) and the DS-157 (Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application) (this is the form the bank validates when you pay the visa application fee) via the computer, type-writter, or handwritten. Hopefully the Manila Embassy will update their packet 4 information to clearly indicate the instructions. If you need to call the Manila Embassy, dial 0 for the operator, and ask for the Immigrant Visa Unit. The average interview appointment is assigned approximately 100 – 150 days from the receipt of your package from the NVC. Beneficiaries are now sent an letter of receipt from the USE once their physical files are received. However, this is NOT Packet 3 because the Manila Embassy ONLY issues Packet 4, and the letter of receipt is not always sent to the beneficiaries. Please also check out this instructional visa interview information (CLICK HERE) (Thx Sillygirl)

(3).The Department of State (DOS) number is within my signature. After your case is approved (NOA2) and reaches the Manila Embassy, you may call DOS instead on the Manila Embassy to obtain status of your case and make inquiries concerning your interview date. NOTE: DOS has no direct participation in the K1 process.

(4). The Visa Interview Appointments website is within my signature. This is where you can check to see if a visa interview has been scheduled for your case. It is presumed that the website is now the substitution for the visa appointment worksheet/list the Manila Embassy used in the past.

(5). St. Luke’s Extension Clinic (SLEC) information is within my signature. SLEC is where the beneficiary goes to take the medical exam and vaccination. The process takes two days. Day 1 is the medical exam and Day 2 is the vaccination. If the Manila Embassy does not mail the beneficiary the K1 Visa Packet and Appointment Letter, then you may call SLEC to arrange to pick them up at SLEC.

(6). The DELBROS website is within my signature. DELBROS is the company responsible for delivering the beneficiary’s Visa and POE information. The DELBROS delivery fee is paid subsequent to the beneficiary’s visa interview at the Manila Embassy. Per the Manila Embassy website, the current delivery fee/time is as follows:

* Metro Manila Areas, 135 Philippine Pesos, Delivered one (1) to three (3) business days after release of visaed passport to the courier

* Provincial Key Cities (ex. Cebu City, Davao City, etc.) 165 Philippine Pesos; Delivered three (3) to five (5) business days after release of visaed passport to the courier

* Outside Provincial Key Cities, (ex. Capiz, Leyte, Bukidnon, etc.), Cost depends on area/location, Delivered five (5) to seven (7) business days after release of visaed passport to the courier

NOTE: Per the DELBROS staff, the Manila Embassy can take as much as three (3) business days to release the visa and POE package, which is NOT included in the deliver times above. You may also call the Manila Embassy, dial 0 for the operator, and ask for Delbros, after the visa is approve, to acquire about the status of your visa delivery .

(7). CFO Guidance and Counseling Seminars are held in Manila and Cebu, with the corresponding links within my signature. The beneficiary may attend whichever location is more convenient. "Per Republic Act 8239 and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Order 28-94, Filipinos proceeding abroad as fiancé(e)s and spouses of foreign nationals are required to attend the CFO's guidance and counseling programs... " For more info (CLICK HERE). NOTE: As far as I know, this requirement is not stated within the K1 packet. However, the beneficiary can NOT travel without receiving the Guidance and Counseling Certificate and subsequent CFO stamp on the visa. Please check out this instructional information on the CFO experience (CLICK HERE) (Thx Sillygirl)

(8). The I-94 Arrival / Departure Form is within my signature. Foreigners (beneficiaries) complete the I-94 and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer stamps the applicant’s arrival and departure portions at the Port of Entry (POE) when entering the States. You will need this for the Adjustment of Status process. NOTE: Even though it’s simple, I have supplied this so you will know what it looks like and what is required to be filled out.

Cheers!!!

Ahmari & Jhen

PLEASE HELP ANYONE!

I have a specific question regarding Jinky's 5 yr. old son, Job. She was never married to his father, but the father is named on Job's Birth Certificate.

Will the Philippine Government allow Jinky to bring Job to the USA without the father's permission? (He has no legal custody of the child). The father is now living here in the states (Maryland) although he is a Filipino National and Jinky knows he'd sign a paper giving permission, but I just want to find out if his permission is required and if so, in what form? A notarized paper?

Thank you,

Steven :star:

under the Philippine Family Code, an illegitimate child is under the sole custody of the mother. if the father never took any legal action for custody, shouldn't need permission from him. i don't think she would need a travel clearance from the DSWD. here's a link, http://www.dswd.gov.ph/faqdetails.php?id=47

Yesterday when she went back for vaccinations, the nurse told her that her Dec 28 interview had been canceled because of the congestion in her chest and that she must come back to St. Luke's on Jan 9, 10 and 11 for tests.

Now my question. Since the nurse canceled our interview, how do we get another one after the three visits ending Jan 11th? Will the nurse who canceled the interview get new one for her? How do I go about getting another interview slot?

Sorry to hear about your situation robhankins. You will have to reset the appointment yourself. You have to call the embassy call center to set another appointment and accept any date that they tell you. If the date is too distant for you, fax a letter to embassy to request for early interview in view of the cancellation of Lilia's interview due to medical reasons which is beyond her control. Embassy may or may not grant your request. Windchaser has more experience in re-setting interview so if you are reading Wind, please let us know your experience.

Here's the guide to request for early interview http://usembassy.state.gov/posts/rp1/wwwhni20.html

Also, what is the deal with the typo's? The NVC mispelled my middle name and got Luz's birthdate wrong! I had Luz fax them our BC to fix that and now it seems they got her address wrong! I just checked my copies of the I-129F and G325A's and it is correct there!

Any errors made by NVC can be corrected during interview at embassy level. Once the visa is issued, there are errors that require for the visa to be re-issued and others that are too minor that do not necessitate re-issuance.

PLEASE HELP ANYONE!

I agree with roymcn3rd. Father's permission and travel clearance are not required if child is illegitimate. However, if they married and had their marriage annulled, court documents must state that Jinky was awarded custody of the child.

May I ask if he needed something listing the value of he home? I own my home and I bought it not long ago. [/b]

You mean if you need to "submit" documents to show the value of your home? No, not required. My fiance just estimated the value of his home and also listed the mortgage amount in the I-134. You may want to go to zillow.com to estimate the current value of your property.

Adding timeline to update packet dates and to welcome mydestiny to our list.

I need help!!!

Can anyone tell me about the I134 Affidavit of Support?

I have printed it out just to review it and in section I. It says, If you are in the United States, the affidavit may be sworn to or affirmed before an officer of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services without the payment of fee, or before a notary public or other officers authorized to administer oaths for general purposes in which case the official seal or certificate of authority to administer oaths must be affixed. Does this means I have to go to my local office here in the US and have this notorized there or at any notory public office?

Also, Section II Supporting Evidence,

My income exceeds the proverty guidelines by 100 % and I want to show my income tax transcripts, but is it only for Self Employed or everyone who want to submitt their income tax papers???

Please let me know if you have any information.

Thanks,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone on a new life Journey :dance::dance::dance:

Mae and I are in the states now and are trying to get on the right time zone.

Here are a few notes for the POE which was San Francisco - Mae was asked the same types of questions that were asked at the embassy. The agent flipped through the papers in the sealed package asking questions. There were no problems at all, took a little longer than me going through the US resident line. Note, was no need to hand carry the x-ray and medical info from St. Lukes - they were not asked for.

CFO - Mae had already gone through the CFO course prior to her interview. We went to the CFO to get her passport stamped. First we found out that not all the taxis knew where the CFO was - took us 2 taxis. I thought it would be a quick in and out of the place - it took over an hour to get her passport stamped due to long lines and people having trouble filling out the forms. She also needed a copy of her passport and appointment letter.n Also bring somehing to write with.

Everyone have a great Christmas and happy New Year....

jim and mae

May I ask if he needed something listing the value of he home? I own my home and I bought it not long ago. [/b]

You mean if you need to "submit" documents to show the value of your home? No, not required. My fiance just estimated the value of his home and also listed the mortgage amount in the I-134. You may want to go to zillow.com to estimate the current value of your property.

Thanks i will check out that site, the sell price is listed on title paperwork (need to find it hehehe)
