First of all, we wish a Merry Christmas to all our fellow Philippine vj'ers. for all of you being delayed because of coughing or positive tb tests at SLEC, we really know how you feel. We have had so many delays on our journey, and each one was devastating. my wife should be with me already for a year, but still now we are waiting for an interview. so, again, i know how you feel, but i'm hoping to give you a little perspective, and maybe even comfort in your present anguish. having your fiancee/spouse checked for TB is of benefit to all concerned, including and most importantly to your fiancee/spouse for their own health and well being. here are some facts that may show you how important this test and possible treatment can be....

from USAID:

"The Philippines has the ninth highest burden of tuberculosis in the world, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) Global TB Report 2006. TB is the sixth greatest cause of morbidity and mortality in the country."

http://www.usaid.gov/our_work/global_healt...es_profile.html

from the Mayo Clinic:

"TB mainly affects your lungs (pulmonary tuberculosis), and coughing is often the only indication of infection initially.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/tuberculo...0372/DSECTION=2

i know we all want to be with our love ASAP, believe me I know. but perhaps from this post you can see how important this testing might be to your loved one and it might help you come to terms with this unexpected delay.

at any rate, i hope all of you that are/will be affected by this will have negative test results and receive ur new appt very quickly! God Bless

I can vouch for your article as explaines by DR's at the Mayo Clinic. I work and have been working there for 22 years. In having worked with patients from around the world, this is a prevalent and very serious condition. I tested positive already after having initiated contact thru work, but only positive by testing. I do not have Tb, but as stated in the above, it is very very important that you have your beloved tested and ruled out for this. It can result in a denial of Visa, or maybe not, as testing only will show exposure. Further testing if thought to be positive may be initiated by the embassy and result in long delays. So consider asking about this by your beloved. If she has shown any sign of persistent cough, or anything of that sort, suggest that she be tested. My wife is a Pinay as well, and I made sure I listened for, and watched for signs of anything when I went there. We are safe and secure in the health area. So I feel lucky, and I wish to all of you, the best of luck, and a Very Merry Christmas.

Can you update us? Luz got her Packet 4 today 12-22-2006.

Also, what is the deal with the typo's? The NVC mispelled my middle name and got Luz's birthdate wrong! I had Luz fax them our BC to fix that and now it seems they got her address wrong! I just checked my copies of the I-129F and G325A's and it is correct there!

Never Expected This ! :help:

Lilia had her medical two days ago. She had to go back yesterday for her vaccinations.

Lilia is healthy as she can be. She contracted a slight cough when she arrived from Bacolod to Las Pinas last week. Her throat is a little sore and she has some phlegm in her throat. Yesterday I asked her to go to the pharmacy and buy "bactrim" antibiotic to kill the suspected infection.

During the medical, because of her cough, they took additional x-ray view. They also did the same thing for the five girls immediately before and after her in the x-ray line.

Yesterday when she went back for vaccinations, the nurse told her that her Dec 28 interview had been canceled because of the congestion in her chest and that she must come back to St. Luke's on Jan 9, 10 and 11 for tests.

I launched into orbit. We are not talking about someone who is sick. We are talking about a very slight upper respiratory infection. Apparently, they want to be sure she doesn't have TB.

Now my question. Since the nurse canceled our interview, how do we get another one after the three visits ending Jan 11th? Will the nurse who canceled the interview get new one for her? How do I go about getting another interview slot?

I know PANICKED is going through a worse situation than mine. He has to wait about six months for his fiancee to get treated for TB. Anyone else had medical delays and how to cope? It is so hard to get an interview. How do we go about rescheduling after the required medical tests prove she doesn't have TB. This is not even a big UR infection, just a sore throat with slight phlegm and congestion. She has had it less than a week; maybe only 3 days.

Of course, this is Christmas weekend. Tuesday I am sending Lilia to top notch Manila doctor for independent x-rays and aggressive prescription recommendation. That's all I know to do at this point. Please help if you know how to handle this situation. :help:

Thanks,

Rob and Lilia

A friend of mine had the same happen except the embassy appointment wasn’t cancelled because the additional three days of tests (phlegm tests) was scheduled just prior to the app. Tests ended on a Thursday, embassy app was the following Tuesday. Once the test was completed, she had to return to St Lukes on Friday for doctor consultation. The doctor told her that the tests were negative but it was up to the embassy if the visa would be issued and mentioned she had a 50-50 chance. My friend was really worried but nothing was mentioned at the interview about the test and she was approved. I hope you get the app scheduled shortly after the testing.

Marilyn and Peter.

At least I know it has happened in the past to someone else. Now if I can find someone who had to reschedule because of a medical so I can see the process, I can start understanding how to reschedule the interview after the needless medical tests.

In my opinion, an over-zealous or acutely PMSing nurse decided to go "POSTAL" yesterday. Lilia said there were several (over five) ladies who had the same christmas-wrecking misfortune bestowed upon them. All with a slight cough.

Funny, I always thought it would be AR that got me, not a nurse in medical. It is hard to believe this kind of $H!% can happen at Christmas time (or at all). I guess just as though the USE started scrutinizing BC's, the staff at SLH has started scrutinizing "coughs" and "slight congestion". This is in fact "MEDICAL AR" assigned by a nurse at SLH.

Do I sound pissed enough? I am really holding it in. :ranting:

I had Lilia see a qualified doctor this morning in Makati Medical Center. He said she has mild bronchitis. He gave her a prescription for cephalexin and a decongestant. No signs of TB. He will check her again prior to her return trip to St. Lukes.

Rather than a nurse arbitrarily "kill" our interview and have Lilia return Jan 9, 10 & 11 for more tests, it would have been so easy to let her pay for a doctor in St. Lukes to see her to clear the medical. What a buch of horse$hi^.

Just a note for those of you who have medicals/interviews coming, don't go to St. Lukes with any congestion and cough. It is lethal to the interview. Plan your medical early and make sure your loved one is healthy prior to going. If by chance they (God forbid) should actually have TB, it can't be covered up by antibiotics, allergy medications etc.

Ya, NVC spelled Florenda's name wrong too. I faxed her BC to the USE to get them to correct it. The USE person said NVC makes a lot of mistakes like that.

The package was sent via DHL? Our interview is 2/13 and so far no packet in Cagayan de Oro. :crying:

I gave my fiancee a head's up that if she has a cold or something we can portpone the medical rather than risk having the interview canceled.

I think DHL usually delivers the packets. they text Yazi asking her to pick it up at the local office, saying they didn't have correct address. when she picked it up , it had her correct address.

was her current cell # on her G-325A?

rob im sorry to hear about lilia... when i took my med last tuesday there were a couple of people that were force to cancel their interview prior to the sputum test... to think its not even for sure that they have TB. thats the thing about going to a medical a week before the interview. a convinient idea yet a risk if theres something wrong about our health. but in the case of lilia and i we dont have a choice since our schedule date was so unexpected (just 3 weeks notice) that it gave us so limited of time to prepare... i was even freaking out the whole time, drinking a galon of milk/day concerning i have a problem on my back too (bone density on my rib near the lungs) that they might think its a spotting or something. good thing they didnt ask for another x-ray... thankful to God... i think that at least 3 weeks before the interview is the better way of getting a med especially if one is not certain about their health or have an early x-ray a week before the med to see if its clear or not like what i did. and never ending Prayer... wish you luck all and hopefully everybody will have a good Christmas in spite of everything else that happened...

PLEASE HELP ANYONE!

I have a specific question regarding Jinky's 5 yr. old son, Job. She was never married to his father, but the father is named on Job's Birth Certificate.

Will the Philippine Government allow Jinky to bring Job to the USA without the father's permission? (He has no legal custody of the child). The father is now living here in the states (Maryland) although he is a Filipino National and Jinky knows he'd sign a paper giving permission, but I just want to find out if his permission is required and if so, in what form? A notarized paper?

Thank you,

Steven :star:
