Luz found out her interview date last week. When should she start looking for the Packet 4?

6-8 weeks prior to interview is when embassy starts sending out the packet. Some packets, however, never make it to the mailbox so be prepared and check out embassy website for content of Packet 4 (link is in uling's signature).

TO VJ friends, below is an explanation of how interview is scheduled. This is from embassy website:

All case processing for Manila, including appointment scheduling, is generally done at the National Visa Center (NVC) in the U.S. An applicant’s case number does not determine his or her position in the scheduling queue. Once a case is current, the applicant’s place in the scheduling queue will be determined by the date all the necessary, completed documents are received at NVC and the case becomes “documentarily qualified.”

We believe the waiting time for an appointment date is approximately three (3) to five (5) months from the date the case is “documentarily qualified.” As soon as an appointment date does become available, NVC will forward the case to Embassy Manila. NVC will also send the petitioner and/or the authorized agent/representative an appointment package.

If a case has been current for over five (5) months and there is still no appointment date in the above link, check with NVC to ascertain the status of the petition. While embassy website states that an applicant's case number does not determine position in the schedule queue, this is true only for family-based petitions like F1, F2, etc. wherein a sibling of a US citizen may be assigned a case number (ex. MNL1997123) but definitely, no appointment will be scheduled until year 2017 since there is a wait time of more than 20 years for petitioned siblings. For K and CR-IR cases, however, where visa is always available, the interview is generally scheduled according to case number except for a few who fall through the crack and those who are granted expedited interview.

Birdy and Gobdogman, I believe that your common denominator is that your papers went "missing in action" between USCIS and NVC, is that right? How about you Steven and Jinky, were you stuck a long time at NVC too?

Hi guys! I and a couple of other girls (vj'ers) are going to have our Medical Exam and CFO next month. We are going to attend the seminar first and then the day after that, we will take our medical exam (3 weeks earlier than scheduled).

What do we need to bring with us?

for thos who already done CFO and Medical, which hotel is the best/nearest/not expensive and has dsl connection to stay? I would like to bring my vonage device with me so that i'll still be able to talk to my fiance.

On the phone the St. Lukes person told me all you need is passport and one 2x2 photo, but I doubt that is right. Some people say you need copies of the DS156 and other VISA forms, some say you don't. I'm trying to get everything ready for the medical and I have no idea what the real requirements are.

Some of the experiences posted and pasted from other websites are "old" info. Requirements do change so the latest and most reliable info would be sillygirl's post. St. Lukes used to collect the DS forms and all other requirements for the embassy a few years back but not anymore.

CFO has different requirements for those with and without visa already stamped in their passports. As each is a different case, read all info and pick out those that apply to you or your fiancee.

Hi guys! I and a couple of other girls (vj'ers) are going to have our Medical Exam and CFO next month. We are going to attend the seminar first and then the day after that, we will take our medical exam (3 weeks earlier than scheduled).

What do we need to bring with us?

for thos who already done CFO and Medical, which hotel is the best/nearest/not expensive and has dsl connection to stay? I would like to bring my vonage device with me so that i'll still be able to talk to my fiance.

Gary the issue si the personalities in the PI. Even though the website list requirements, each individual going through the CFO, St Lukes and the Interview has been asked for additional documents or none at all. It is the process that is the issue no people's experiences. It is just liek the assigning of interviews, is it case number or receipts or when the documents are ready like the site states? PWs timelines tells a different story then what is stated on the web site.

Filks posting their experiences at least give us different things they haev been asked for whether it is stated as a requirement or not. JMHO, Ken

LOL. The REAL requirements are probably found by clicking on the links in Uling's signature for the government agency web sites and determine the requirements as they apply to you. That's what I did, and then read the experiences to see if they matched-up with what I understood after reading the mumbo-jumbo on the web pages. But then I'm on AR, so maybe me and the three other lawyers that went over our application don't know squat.

For Medical :

You will need 3 photos (2x2) 1 when for the reception area where it will be attached to the forms given by the guard - don't attached it yet wait for the receptionist to call your name and number as well and also put your name at the back of the picture. The last 2 will be needed when they will release your medical result which is also on the ground floor, after medical procedures and vaccination.

You don't need to bring any visa forms.Just bring with you the required ID pictures, your passport, your vaccination history if you have one, any medical reports just in case they ask from you (BUT this is not required - I had stomach ulcers last October 2005 but was treated until December - didn't bring with me any medical papers regarding that just told the doctor who examined me) and x-ray film if you have one for more than 3 months- if none that's no problem and MOney for the payment of medical fee, bring pesos!! and of course bring something to read or whatever to make you busy and not bored waiting for your name and number to be called in different floors!!!

Well, if you read sillygirl's account she says you need your Appointment Letter (original and copies) and 3 passport-sized (2x2) photos , but when I called St. Luke's last week to check on available dates they told me to just bring the passport and one 2x2 photo. OK, I'm taking a stab at putting together a "guide" for the Manila CFO seminar. Here's my first cut. Keep in mind that the "To Bring" list is not the minimum requirement, rather more like the worst case (be prepared). Does anybody have any input? I'm still trying to figure out the location is the seminar, the CFO web site gives 3 locations with maps, CFO, SMEF-COW, and PRISM. Which one it is?

CFO Guidance and Couseling Session

(This is done by SMEF-COW or PRISM)

· Money for fee, 500PHP (for Certificate of Attendance).

· 2 Photo IDs (this requirement is from the CFO web site).

· Passport original (if available) and 1 copy (they might keep the copy).

· NBI Clearance original and 1 copy (they might take the copy).

· Birth Certifcate original and 1 copy (they might take the copy).

· VISA is NOT required to attend seminar. If you don’t have it then tell them you don’t have your VISA yet.

· Know this information for forms:

Notes:

· This counseling may involve some scare tactics so be prepared for that.

· Sessions for US travelers are at 10:00AM, 1:30PM and 3:30PM.

· They will NOT keep your passport at the CFO seminar (you will need it at St. Lukes).

· Make sure you get your Certificate of Attendance before you leave. You will need this to get your VISA stamp later.
