By the way, I just like to know if I could get my medical exam earlier than my provided schedule ?(like a month earlier... maybe?) If yes, how should I do it, should I call Saint Luke's? Yup, the medical examination can be done earlier.. in fact, I read some posts encouraging it to be done a month earlier than interview date, something about the effectivity of one of the vaccines ( thanks gary505). You can go to St. Luke's with your appointment letter (original and photocopy)... or if you're picking up your packet that day (see my post for Sway a few posts up), I understand you just have to present a valid ID to the guard and tell him you're picking up your packet. No need to call to schedule medical appointment.

And don't forget your RP passport and VISA photos, as a minimum. The issue with the vaccines is the MMR, if you have a possibility of getting pregnant right away, you need to wait 28 days after the MMR vaccine to, well, you know ...

Thank you so much for the information, what would I do whithout you guys helping me out on this. So i guess I just have to wait for my appointment letter to arrive, I called the embassy a couple of minutes ago and they told me that they already sent it to me December 12, so as soon as I get I would probably do my medical exam, my interview date is not until February 21 anyway so I still got plenty of time. Yes, you can go early to the medical exam. In fact, I and some others recommend it!

If you have to have some 'extra' medical tests, you may need the additional time that is gained by going early, to get the tests results back before the interview date. If st. lukes states that you need some tests because you may have a problem, it could be 14 days before you get the results in (that part varies). If they do not have the results of the tests back before the interview, then you can not go to the interview and must reschedule it for what could be a couple of months from then.

Usually the embassy schedules the exam 1 week before the interview. So go early!.

Also, you can not be on your period during the exam. If you are, you will need to go back later, to complete the exam after your period. If the interview happens before your medical exam is done, because of the PMS thing, then you can not go to the interview. If you go early, you can go before your period starts and not risk missing the interview.

Don't go to early, because things could change or the embassy may say it is to old.

My GF had to have some unusual medical tests. If she did not go early, the tests results would not have been known before the interview. Therefore no interview. Unfortunately, her 'extra' tests came back as positive for tuberculoses, so she does have to complete a treatment regime (plan). Had the results came back no for TB, then she still would have missed her interview, had she not went early.

Guys, one more question though, I called the US Embassy a while ago and the customer representative told me that I need to fill out the DS-156 form online then after filling that out a barcode will be generated and I have to print that out and bring that on my interview, have you heard anything about this step? Also, I cannot find the link on the US Embassy website about it.

It took 3 days to get here. The packet was sent December 11 unlike what the embassy told my fiance that it was December 9. I am here in Metro Manila, but don't worry I think all the packet is going to take 3 days. They are sending it through DHL! Everyone should have thier packet soon.

For all of those with interview dates like ours on or around Feb 15th, where are you staying? It would be nice to have dinner with some of the members here and put a face to the names. We are thinking about Executive Plaza, trying to stay close to the Embassy.

If you have not made reservations yet, try this link to get great Hotel prices. Precision Reservations and if you know of a site that gets better prices let me know. On this site after you get the list of Hotels and prices, you can select by area by clicking on "Manila Map" in the right margin, then selecting Malate. There is 9 hotel in the Malate area close to the Embassy. Most are very expensive, but he Executive was $32 a night when I checked yesterday.

Gary you said you bought your tickets already, just curious what kind of price you got? I have been checking and found ticket from Hawaii arouns $611 round trip 13-25 Feb 07. I used these two link as they let you get one-way from Manila online and get good prices. Best Travel Store and TravelPH .

For those of you in Hawaii, Emerson Travel usually beats all online dicount prices and their number is 597-1818, ask for Theresa. I will be calling her this morning at 0900 when they open. Ken & Maria

I used my miles to get this ticket! All those trips add up quick! We are staying at the LaCorona Best Western Hotel. It's a block or two from the Embassy. I paid $60/night for each room. We will be there from the night of the 13th (very late) until the morning of the 16th when we go to Olongapo where Luz lives. I have already sent Garya505 a PM about having dinner. If you want we could make it a party! I plan on taking Luz and her son Robin to a resturant in Chinatown called MegaStar. They have hot-pots there and Luz and I LOVE THEM! Lets all get together and make a night of it!
