a friend of a friend met a girl over the internet, went to the Philippines many times this year and is planning to do K1. however, he said that his lawyer had adviced him to not mention how they met as it would cause delays and complications. i told him that, in my opinion...and from what i've seen with other couples who met through the internet...telling them exactly how you met is not really an issue. lying about it would be a big issue instead.

they haven't filed anything yet...just gathering documents...(i almost wanted to offer up my help but since they already hired the attorney...i didn't say anymore. i did tell him to checkout VJ.com though.) is there anything else i should tell him to help him out?

I'd tell him to gather as much information as he can glean from the internet and other sources so that he is educated on the immigration process, especially specifically as it applies to the Phil. This info can be used to "double-check" the work of the lawyer. Some immigration lawyers are totally up-to speed on specific embassy procedures, but others are not. While the law is quite cut-and-dried, unfortunately the process through different embassies can often be very different. Unless a lawyer is very familiar with K1 through USE in Manila, he/she could easily miss an important detail. I'd agree with you and tell the "whole truth" about the meeting. Its always easier to explain the truth, rather then explain a lie later.

Wow!! Such great news on approved petitions and new scheduled interviews as well. It looks like the USE has finally found new resources or set a new priority on K1 interviews because, where they WERE falling farther behind every month, they are now making good headway on the long queue of petitions.

As of right now all bets are off on predictions while they continue to release additional interview slots BEFORE their upcoming announcement of February slots. And that's a GOOD thing!! We have all moved nicely up the list since the January slots were announced. Mari and I were thinking March (MNL2006-789xxx) but now, February is looking pretty good. This has been a great development for all of us!

Have vic&el4ever, davidjack, or binow checked in case they have a scheduled date? It would be helpful to hear from them either way.

And GOOD LUCK Fmerz and Roy in your upcoming interviews!!!!

Well, bad news, looks like we were NOT approved on Dec. 4. The stupid filipina answering the phone at x5184 says something about "routine background check" and still with the CO. Couldn't get any more info than that. I didn't want to be a ####### and call my congressman to stir things up, but I guess I'm going to have to.

We have seen them mostly released in the middle of the month, then what appears to be some "filling in" of available interview slots later on. Some of the "fill-ins" actually get earlier dates the the first batch, so it's not always a bad thing if you don't get selected in the first (mid-month) batch. ;)

BJZAGS.......VERY sorry to hear about your AR sfter thinking that you were approved. This entire process has made us all frustrated. Hang in there; hopefully it's only a slight delay.

As you probably know, we are in the same boat...I called them a few mins ago and they are

still "dishing out" the same canned response.....still under review. I am keeping the faith though.

Take care my friend
