Congratulations PW! Just a little more time and we'll be reading ur success story after ur interview.

Done with the interview yesterday and a nice lady Consul interviewed me. The Filipina pre-screener wasn't that nice though, which is such a shame since we're both Filipino's, right? The Lady Consul said that all my documents were in order and that aside from a similar surname from somebody (someone from the "wanted list" maybe?) which would require a finger print scan (for a fee of $85) I was approved. Tim called up the embassy this morning and they confirmed that we were approved and that they would issue the visa once the results of the finger scans were back. Hope it doesn't take too long though, as we have reservations for the 18th of this month. Wishing all the people that will have their interviews soon the best of luck...I think that as long as all your documents are complete and in order, there would be no problems.

I am also interested in what happened at the initial medical exam date. When the x-rays were taken, what happened then? I have a friend who's fiancee had her medical recently. They have asked her to come back for three days of phlem testing. Did the same happen to you? When did they inform the girl she had active TB? Thanks, Marilyn and Peter.

That is what I am asking. They only way to tell if it is active is a combination of test, not just an xray and labs results take a couple of days. Unless she was showing symptoms, which he says she was not, I'd get a second opinion like at Makati Medical or even St Lukes without telling them the results of the scheduled medical. Let us know what you find out. Payato

My understanding, after doing some research, is that "Phlem" testing, is searching for respiratory diseases, including but not limited to TB. Phlem has to do with mucas in a persons airway, which is a breeding ground for bacteria and even a cause of bad breath. That bacteria breeding ground could be the means at which TB blossoms in the body or other unkind diseases. Testing of that mucas, i believe, is just to seeing what bad things may reside there. It could be somthing or nothing. My research has not said how long it would take to do the tests. Hopefully it will come out that your friend is just fine. Instead of the 3 days, she was told go back to St Luke's, 9 later.

On the day of and while at the medical exam, she showed signs of the TB. Prior to that day, she had no symptoms at all, but she did have symptoms that day. Including bleeding of the mouth, though very minor. That bleeding, she thought maybe she bit her tongue or had a bad tooth or something. TB was the last thing that crossed her mind.

She is taking medicine daily. Thank you!

Hi Panicked,

My sister was diagnosed with PTB (primary tuberculosis) on her medical for Canada. That was in February and she is well now. She didn't show any symptoms also and was in good health (or so we thought). The doctor has said that only after 2 weeks of taking the medicines prescribed for TB, she wouldn't be infectious anymore although people that were in contact with her, e.g. family, BF or hubby would have to be xrayed, just to be sure that she hasn't infected them. After 3 months of taking the meds, she went back for the follow-up check up and xray and the doctor said that all was well with her xray but still has to finish the 6 months required medications. Sorry to say that the minimum time of taking the medications for TB is 6 months and in some cases, takes even 9 months. It's important that she take her meds religiously, no matter what, as the doctor said that if she missed even a day of the meds, she would have to start all over

again. It's also a good thing that St Lukes is giving the meds to her for free as they cost almost P50/day.

Good luck and I will be keeping you both in my prayers.

Im going to be Calling them every day until they are so sick of me they will approve the Visa!

I will be very Calm but Very Persistant.

I gave them Originals for every Document that was listed!

Even original Divorce Papers!

Whats worse is......My Fiance does not think there is any problem!.... I don't know how im gonna tell her. She did ask an officer there if we now are on AR. The officer said everything is in order. She then asked why is nothing checked off for a reason to not approve on the 221G? He would not aswer but reassured Her. So She thinks all is well....

Sounds to me like they just wanted to not have another upset person crying there & just wanted to move on to the next person huh? They just kept telling Her there was "No Problem"!

She Quit Her Job before the interview. Her last day is Dec. 10th. Hello Western Union from here till whenever to pay Her bills.

Hello,

I had the same experience as your fiance.Everything's there for the CO but he still gave me a 221g like your fianace received and I had my visa after 6 weeks. They checked my CENOMAR but it takes a long time because they do everything in batches so just call the embassy everyday to let them know that you want her in US soon.

Hey Guys and Gals, I don't mean to be a stuffed shirt, but is there some way to "trim" our thread? It is so long and thus hard to find pertinent information.

Maybe "congratulations" could be sent as personal messages? Nobody really needs to see your "congrats" except the recipient, right? Personal messages could be sent as "personal messages"?

Like most of you, I have alerts set on this thread. I check every message that comes through this thread for any tidbit of information that might be important. It seems so often I open the thread to see a two page quote and a short personal remark or "congrats".

It's just a thought, please don't flame me for suggesting the use of personal messages when appropriate.

I am reading all these depressed posts, and feeling for everyone, and what really chaps my butt is that the Immigrant Visa Unit could very easily publish a helpful tips list: I am betting that 8 out of 10 AR causes are virtually identical. The pre-screeners and consular officers see upwards of what, 200 per day (guessing here, whatever...) and they probably just glance at the attachments and mentally think "Hmm.. this one's ripe for an AR"... why not just publish the damn list?

The other thing that really steams me up is that every poor anguished soul sitting in the waiting area represents upwards of $100 revenue to the IV unit. In the case of CR1/IR1 it is $380 per backside! For What??? In my case, even though successful (I hope, not yet got the visa in hand), they had lost the medical results and the original DS230I, and kept asking us for them as if it was our responsibility to find them. I wonder what exactly the $380 is supposed to pay for? That is in addition to the $190 for the CIS to rummage around in your I130 information. And in our case, they too lost important paperwork never to be recovered. Damn, I'm getting all steamed up and we were successful!! You poor folks on AR must be just desperate! I am so sorry...

Just a speed bump for those of us on the AR $hitlist. We've done everything we can, I call and speak with Suzy or Lorrain every day at the embassy. She tells me our case is with the consul officer who interviewed my wife and as soon as she reviews the additional cso birth certificated added by my wife Nov 29th it will be released to debros.

if your papers and all other requirements are in order...the rape trial results should not affect your visa applications.

yeah, i know but then we didn't knw wat the american consul thinking now. obviously some of em are meanie pie atleast not all of em ha. well, think positive only. m just sharing wat ive seen in the news earlier and the concern of the ppl outside in the embassy waiting fr their interview time.

clestz

Hmm, Newbie, no timeline, no photo... I smell a troll. The Marine case has nothing to do with immigrations. It is like comparing apples and oranges.

well, no one comparing here.. am i? like ive said " m just sharing wat ppl concern outside in the embassy today" and dnt said " i smell a troll" here. why, does it matter if i dnt hve pic and timeline?

Just looks suspicious that ur profile is created the same day u post something as controversal as this in the thread about Manila. JMHO, Payato

Anyhow, she was fine before the exam. However during the am of the exam, she felt a little sick plus she started bleeding a little bit out of her mouth. She had no idea that she was sick or had TB until the Exam, itself.

During the exam, in addition to the blood from her mouth (which never happened before then), the examiners said that her heartbeat was unusual. She said that it was actually slow. They took the X-rays but I am not sure if they new for sure about the TB at this time. They had he take some extra tests and stuff and told her that she had to go back to St. Luke's on the 17th of November. This was on November 8th. When she went back, she was told by people at St. Lukes that she failed the exam and could not go to the Embassy interview, that was scheduled for November 20.

From the 8th to the 17th, she did not officially know that she failed the exam, but knew that there was a problem. Because she did not believe that she was actually sick, she really thought that she would pass those tests and even told me that all was fine. She was very shocked to find out that she failed the exam, but did not know until she was told on the 17th. It took her a few days to tell me because she was so devastated. It took her a little bit longer to tell me what happened because a friend told her that I would dump her. (That is not true!) She would not tell me why she failed the exam, only that she did. So, I called St. Lukes and found out what happened. Only then would she tell me what happened. (Basically, she was ashamed of what happened)

Since then, she says that she has gotten better, or at least feels better.

About the regime: St. Luke's told me that she must take medication everyday. After 3 months, she will have another x-ray and then continue on for 3 more months (6 months total) of medication. After the 6 month mark, she will have to have another X-ray taken. From then, it will be determined if she improved and could travel to the USA. St. Luke's was pretty firm on the 6 month part. I am not sure if that is based upon how sick she is or if that is a standard time line.

Note, St. Luke's said that the medication was free, but that she had to take it there. For the weekends, when they are closed, they do give her medication to take with her. She is fortunate enough that she does have a place to stay at in Manila, at a relatives place. She only needs to pay for the transportation to get to St. Luke's and return each day.

The thing that gets me is that St. Luke's used the word "infectious" to describe her condition, yet she is able to stay at her Grandma's place. I would think that they would quarantine her or something.

Panicked, Now it makes sense. The meds is a daily dose and it used to be 6 months, might still be in the PI, but it is 9 in the states. TB is very contagious, you as well as all her family members need to have the TB tine test to ensure they do not have it. If ST Lukes is making you wait 6 months, I'd write the Embassy or call and have them keep your case open (think u already did this). The med are expensive, so glad to hear she is getting them for free through St Lukes. Good luck and out thoughts are with you two. Ken & Maria
