Interview experience:

Arrived just before 5AM. there were already many others lined up waiting.

5AM the guard started to call for people with 6:30 appointments, and then soon after called everyone with 7AM appointments.

Went to gate 4 and had everything scanned. (This is where they will collect your phone)

They were still processing the people from the early appointments so she had to wait a short time before being called to the booth where they checked your DS forms to ensure that they had been completed correctly. They then issued her a number.

Then she sat a watched the board. The board would flash your number and the room or window you were to report to. *They were not calling out numbers* So you have to watch the board.

She was first sent to window 17 to have her finger prints taken.

A short while later she was sent to the preliminary interview. The staff member there spoke Tagalog so she felt comfortable communicating with him. He asked for the following forms:

NBI clearance

NSO birth certificate

Cenomar

Affidavit of support

Questions:

How did you meet your fiance?

When was the last time you saw him?

Does he have any kids?

How old is he?

Do you have any pictures of the two of you together?

Then she was instructed to return to her seat and wait for her number to be flashed on the board again.

When she returned to her seat it could not have been two minutes before she was sent to window 44 for her inteview with the consul.

In the consuls' office she first took her oath and then was asked the following questions:

How did we meet?

When did we meet?

When did you last meet in person?

What is his work?

Was your fiance married before, and if yes how many times?

Have you ever been out of the country?

Then interview was over in a matter of minutes. She went back to her seat and waited and wait for her number to be displayed again.

When she saw her number she went to the window to fill out her delivery address and pay for DELBROS.

It was all fairly quick and painless. I hope that everyone coming up to their interview has an equally quick and painless interview!

They never looked at all of the other documents that we had been painstakingly collecting.

I am feeling like the Embassy has the intent of driving us to a point of madness or frustration or just pure rage!

I called today to confirm if our visa was approved. This is not a pretty story!

First call: Your visa petition has been put under document review..please call us back in 4 to 6 WEEKS!

**PANIC SETS IN!**

Can you tell me why? NO

Can you give me better idea of how long this might take? NO

Can you let me talk to someone who can? NO

Can I speak with the consul? NO

They did not review the vast majority of our documents! I felt safe in assuming that the visa was approved! I WAS WRONG!

Second call: "PLEASE I BEG OF YOU! HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HAS HAPPENED!"

Sir the consul approved your visa and it is now going through name checks! WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Is that the normal procedure that they do before issuing the visa? Is she approved or not? THIS IS STANDARD SOP SIR!

It will take no more than 2 weeks.

At this time I do not know what will take no more than two weeks! I just went from on top of the world to a pit of despair and frustration, which is quickly going to complete rage. The lack of information and lack of assistance is intolerable

Can someone help me to understand the language? Is it their normal procedure to review the documents and then print the visa? I know that people have got their visa in just a few days is that still a possibility? Is document review the same as AR? The very nice lady whom I spoke to said that the consul had approved our visa would she say that if it was going to put under AR?

Thank you all for listening...I am venting because I am so frustrated. It has been too slow of a process to have it postponed for more months after letting us believe that we would be together soon!

I can't imagine the emotions you are going through. A government worker who doesn't know her head from a hole in the ground, not a total surprise. I wonder who's name could be checked. Yours I would think would have been "checked" before the I-129F was approved state-side. So logic dictates its something to do with her identity, but can't imagine what. I've heard of security checks being done on benficiaries coming from middle-eastern countries, but not coming through Manila.

I can not explain what I am feeling.....despair, frustration, anger, confusion but most of all dread! How do I tell her? She was so happy yesterday that the interview went so well! They did not ask to look at most of her paperwork and they asked only a few questions. How do I tell her that I do not know what the status is! I do not know if you are going to get the visa in a few days or a few weeks.....

This interview was very stressful for her and the relief and happiness in her voice from it being over and that it went so well was such a sweet sound. How do I put all that stress back to her because of the madness of our government at work! The well honed ability of our government workers to make a simply process into a infuriatingly frustrating nightmare that would drive the most pious of men to contemplate violence!

I do not know what I am feeling...

sorry to hear about your situation, goodman. anyways, i don't think you're on AR because the CO will usually tell you if you are.

also, try calling in the next few days. maybe the call center's response is SOP and the reality is they've already processed your visa (since the operator DID say the CO approved your visa). check your DELBROS tracking number in the next few days too.

wish you much luck.

Fate is building a bridge of chance for the one you love...
