I went through my company travel agent and they took care of everything. I knew if i waited the price would have gone up plus less seats available.

I know we are taking a chance, but it is christmas time - I hope for an early christmas present from the CO at the interview.

Airlines are normally helpful getting you on the same flights and sitting next to each other.

Using TravelPH, JAL LAX-MNL round trip 15-22 Dec $930; BestTravelStore same route and dates of China Air $854. There are better deals out there, just have to search and find the best ones that fit your plans. Good luck ken (Payato)

Hello VJ family,

I have a question regarding plane tickets. My fiancé is coming to attend my visa interview and wants to pick me up once i get my visa. My question is, can he buy my ticket in the U.S. so we will for sure be on the same flight back? will it cause any problems? Do I have to wait and buy my flight in Manila and pay taxes to the Philippines? Or can my fiancé just go ahead and buy a round trip ticket for both of us, and I just use the part of the ticket that takes me to the U.S. with him? That way he can save some money and get the tickets now.

Please give us an idea on if you had done the same thing before. Thanks a lot.

You are going to paty taxes either way you go. He can purchase a one-way ticket for you to return with him from one of many agencies in the states but the one way ticket is usually cheaper if you purchase it there in the PI (it does not have to be Manila). Sounds like the embassy has posted the January dates on the web site. If your case number isn't on the list, then it looks you did not make the list, though I have heard of a few stragglers that did get a date later in the month. I know that Jenalyn got packet 4 within one week of the date being posted on the web page.

Lovebug – Yes, your Baby may purchase your ticket in the US. There will not be any problems. However you can ONLY pay the Philippine Travel Tax (approximately 1620PHP) and Airport Fee (Approximately 600PHP) in the Philippines. You may pay the Philippine Travel Tax at the Ticketing Office or at MNL. The Airport Fee is paid before you pass through the customs checkpoint at MNL. By the by, your Baby will have a roundtrip ticket, but you only really need a one way.

There are a lot of incorrect posts about the medical exam question. From what I have read here and other places, you can take the medical exam 1 or 2 months in advance of the interview without causing problems. Anything earlier than that could cause problems later, like at your 90-day AOS if the doc thinks the medical is only good for 6 months.

We plan to get our medical exam 1 month before the interview because of the MMR vaccine and I plan to be there for the interview.

It's been mentioned before that the Case Number MNL2006789xxx seems to match the order in which interviews are assigned. And also that the 3 digits after the year actually corresponds to the day in which the NVC received the case (+500). So when we share case numbers it's most helpful to share the full 3 digits after the year and your specific ID is still safe.

I have sorted the list by Interview Date and made gaps between each month of interviews. What concerns me is that it seems like the USE is not keeping up with the rate of approvals. Each month sees the Case Day Nuumber go up by 30 but the last two months of interviews have only eaten up about 20 or 30 days of approvals rather than 60. It looks like the USE is falling behind the wave of approvals.

I expected January to cover more days of approvals than Devember because of having fewer holidays but that didn't appear to happen. Am I making sense here or have I missed something?

And no, please, I can't take over managing the list but did have extra free time today to try to understand how things are moving in these interviews. I encourage anyone reading this to add yourself to the list or fill in any gaps in dates and case numbers if you can. Would be great to hear from Kirkand Jenny and to get Roundbo's case number.

Can anyone shed more light on this? We are just trying to guess when we are likely to be able to be together. Thanks and congrats again to the MNL730's who are set for January.

You may have this confused with the operation of Air Philippines flights by Philippine Airlines. At least when I flew PAL on Oct 15 that was still the case.
