Manila Embassy Interview

We are planning to be together on or before New Year. The thing is my interview will be on December 21... is it ok to buy ticket for Dec 27 or 28???Im gonna ask the consul for a visa pick up if we have found favor...if not then Quezon City will be the address....anybody who has this same dilemma??? Is it better to buy ticket now and just have it rebook just in case, or buy tickets days before the flight??

Thanks.

I bought a round ticket.s to be in the philippines for mae's interview. I also bought a ticket for mae and will ask to pick up the visa at the embassy. If you dont get a ticket now it will be hard to get one at the last minute, holiday season. It is a gamble, but one I think is worth while.

I am debating if we should put the flight on the DS-156.

Yeah I know that, I have a friend who bought a one-way ticket close to a thousand bucks a few days before the said flight. I mean now, I inquired it's just above $600 so it's really a big difference and if i will rebooked it Im just going to pay more or less $50-75.

Im also thinking bout putting that in the DS-156 but Im thinking it would be better to put that there since we will be asking the visa to be delivered??? and just show them that you have made reservations on that date or even a copy of yoru ticket as well.... hmmmmm.. any thoughts bout this???:unsure::thumbs:

You don’t need to show BPI anything to pay the visa fee so don’t worry about it. Just tell them you are paying the US visa fee.

Where are you located that you have to pay the courier to have the packet delivered to you? Malayo ba? (is it far from the city?) I don’t think LBC is accredited by the embassy to deliver for them.

It would be less expensive if your fiance calls the embassy from the US to request for the packet to be sent to St. Lukes. The number to call is 011-632-528-6300 local 5184 (call between 7:30 am ~ 8:00 am Philippine time). Have him call a few days before your medical exam then you should confirm with St. Lukes after two days if the packet is there.

You may also request for the packet by using the Call Center 1-909-101-7878. Note that calls made to this number cost Pesos 53 per minute plus applicable provincial charges. Very expensive since you will be put on hold a minimum of 15 minutes.

To the newcomers in our thread, please take the time to read all the useful information which you will find within Uling's signature. All the tips you need to know about the Manila K1 process is there. Di ba, Uling?

Yes PW im far from the city, thats why they charge me over a thousand if they will deliver it to me, i live kasi sa bukid, hehehe. Anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH for your infos, it really helps!!! Im OK now also to shimmy and elizabeth...Thanks!!! God bless us ALL!!!...:)

Legally speaking, even if she is the biological mother, the child is not hers and should not have been mentioned in the petition since your fiancee's name is nowhere to be found in the BC. The proof of having given birth could have been explained away ~ the child was given up for adoption.

But since the child was already mentioned in the petition, telling the truth about the circumstances of its existence during the interview and being supported by a notarized letter (Affidavit?) should suffice but that is just my opinion and I am not a lawyer.

I assume you have consulted a lawyer already that's why you have a notarized letter? I would assume that what your fiance has is a notarized Affidavit, is that correct? If the lawyer said that the notarized affidavit should suffice, then she should be okay. Bear in mind, however, that there's a big possibility that her case would be scrutinized more by the embassy people.

"Explained away with Adoption" is why we decided to tell the truth, since there is no RECORD of adoption to provide to back up that statement also. The reason I provided the notorized statement was to bolster the TRUTH of the situation. An affidavit is just a fancy name for notorized letter, another reason for lawyers "needing" to charge $300 an hour. As far as seeing a lawyer, I decided that me being one myself was good enough at this point. If we were petitioning the child to come with then I definitely would have employed an immigration lawyer. But right now, we will have supplied all documentation required under the law and procedures and I'm not sure what more a lawyer could tell us until there as been a finding by the embassy.

Hi, Sillygirl!

I just wanna ask something from you...I read your interview and medical examination tips and I find them very helpful especially to me and to those who are just to go through to the process..I even have a hard copy of them..Thanks for posting them...:thumbs:

I read from some posts here that there are embassies which don't allow the petitioner to be there together with the beneficiary during the interview...Now, if I got it right your fiance is with you during the interview...So, does it mean that the fiancee/fiances petitioners are allowed to be present with the benificiary fiancee/fiance at USE during interview??? Does it apply to all cases or to some cases only???

Thank you & Godbless you always and your beloved.... (F)

It won't matter if she (the beneficiary) doesn't work. I was unemployed when I went to my interview. :)

Hi! Glad you find them helpful. :) And you read it right, my fiance was with me during my interview. :D

I also read that there are some embassies that don't allow the petitioner to be present during the interview. But in the case of the USE in Manila, the petitioner can be with the beneficiary all through out the interview process (from the pre-screener to the consul). And as far as I know, it applies to all cases, not just K-1.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the welcome PW :)

Ive read somewhere here that the best time to call USE Manila is 7:30 -8:00 am? Is that why I couldnt get a hold of anyone when I was calling them around 2-5 pm? why is that?

I also called the call centers (Sobrang mahal!) 3 times already to check if our case has arrived Manila yet since it was sent last October 12 and the ladies said its not yet there :crying:

and I just called department of state awhile ago (thanks for the numbers Uling! ) and the visa specialist told me our case is already in the system (USE in Manila) but the hardcopy is not yet in there :(.

Whats taking our case to get to USE Manila so long??? :(

and by the way, what else should I wait for (aside from us waiting for the case to reach the USE Manila)??

Will they send a letter telling us that they already have our case or I will be waiting for the instruction packet na? Whats next for us guys? Thanks for future helps ;)

Based on my experience USE will send you a letter it's called pre-appointment letter telling when did they received your files from NVC your case number included in it and how long will you wait for the interview which of course the standard time they usually say 120 days /150 days.. WAit for the interview date to be posted they are updating the Interview dates every third week of the month..you can see uling's signature for all the stuff!!!;-)

you'll be paying the visa fee of $100 USD at the main branch of BPI in Davao unless there's another closer to you. you can download the fiance visa applicants appointment package and forms from the Embassy website. Uling also has a link in his signature. package has a list of BPI branches in Southern Mindanao where you can pay the visa fee.
