PW, it's a shame most American's can't speak our language nearly as well as you.

Awww, robhankins, you've always been so kind to me. Thank you.

To forgyj, my documents did not have documentary stamps but I made sure my original documents had the required dry seal and if they were certified to be true copies, they were signed and likewise sealed by the office that certified it. I am certain that you have a Certificate of Registration for the declaration of nullity of your marriage based on Presumption of Death, otherwise the NSO would not have issued you an annotated MC. The Certificate of Registration is a government and NSO requirement prior to annotation of the MC.

The registration is required according to Section 7 of Republic Act No. 3753 http://www.chanrobles.com/republicactno3753.htm

"Sec. 7. Registration of marriages. — x x x

In cases of divorce and annulment of marriage, it shall be the duty of the successful petitioner for divorce or annulment of marriage to send a copy of the final decree of the court to that local civil registrar of the municipality where the dissolved or annulled marriage was solemnized"

Updating to welcome Erichu to our thread and again to sound the fire alarms to Ara & Ken. They will remain under red alert until they give us an interview date

Hi Shimmy.

I did the same thing. I downloaded DS 157 online, filled out using Adobe and printed it out. I requested the bank if they can validate the form I have and they said it's no problem. But the lady said she can only stamp one copy (packet 4 instructs to fill out 2 copies of the DS 157).

Cheers!

K3_IR

Thank you so much for the information.

They said the same thing to me just one copy to be validated and have it xerox.

DHL dropped off packet 4 today. 10-20-06

I would like to give a reminder of the importance to have your contact information updated with the embassy. The embassy really messed up Dhonn's address and thus DHL could not find her house. Thankfully, we updated the embassy awhile ago with Dhonn's new # and they were able to txt her.

wow holy ####### wow always thought you were older PW just saw your pic lol :P so why isnt your info on this list that you maintain with such skill :P

Glad to know you're still reading our thread, Danoco.

As you know my first petition fell through because of my two marriages (to the same person) and two annulments and now I'm on petition no. 2. Two of everything for me! :P I haven't received NOA2 for petition no. 2 so I'm not in the list yet. We're hoping to get NOA2 by end of October or early November.

I'm middle-aged already ~ turning 44 this year so you're hunch was correct, I'm an old hag. Filipina women transform from a young maiden during the day and turn into an old witch at night. Better switch on your night lamp to make sure Yove does not transform at night. Hala lagot, asawang aswang!!! :girlwerewolf2xn::girlwerewolf2xn::girlwerewolf2xn:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL!

hmm maybe thats why she spends all her time in the bathroom lol

well i hope my atawa looks as good at 44 lol

Yet another concern. The NOA2 approval was dated Aug. 4 and is valid for 120 days. In our case, the interview will be ONE day longer than 120. Do I need to contact the Manila embassy to have them extend this time, or will this be automatically done? When dealing with the govt. and the letter of the law, ONE day can be the same as 100 days.

This is a big one for all of us who have to wait up to 150 days after our petition gets to Manila. I am sure there is a way to continue this. Does anyone have any information.

No, just about every case goes over the 4 month "limit" They extend it themselves. Our case was extended for a year and a half so far. :)

Speaking of which, going to head to the Congressman's office today after i get cleaned up and try to get some help. Hoping that they would find it in their hearts to help seeing as how i have no other real hope that this will ever end :( Anyways, anyone who prays it would be very helpful. Not just for the case but for the stress on the long wait.

What makes you think you will wait 150 days? The embassy will alwasy give worst case scenario when talking to a petitioner. There isn't any evidence here on VJ that anyone has waited 150 days yet.

Hi Wind,

I couldn't wait out the 6 weeks and went to my Congressman this past Monday. I wrote a letter and delivered it to the office - explaining that whole situation. Also had several others write letters to him too. I know friends and family that are immigrants that have become citizens. The Congressman wasn't in the office but the representative told me that by going through their office that our case would be elevated to the Consular Generals office for review. I should hear something in about 2 weeks. Don't know what that "something" is? Maybe need for more paperwork? But he told me that I should be patient that USE in Manila is the 2nd most busiest embassy in the world; 2nd only to Juarez, Mexico.

But we already knew that they are busy!

That's all I know for now.

You & your fiance are in my prayers.

Titakey

PW, having gone through an annulment myself, i have all the docs u mentioned but the Certificate of Registration. Where is that doc acquired? Thanks!

You can get that from the Local Civil Registrar of the city/town where your court is located. My annulment case was heard by a court in Paranaque City so my Certificate of Registration was issued by the LCR of Paranaque.

Do you have an annotated marriage contract issued by NSO already? If you have that, then I assume that you have completed the documentary requirements otherwise, NSO would not have annotated your MC. Your local LCR may have used a different title for the Certificate of Registration. What are the documents that you have there with you right now that pertains to your annulment? Let's see if there is something similar to the Certificate of Registration.

1. xxxx 2 xxx 3 xxx 4 xxx 5 xxx

6. DECREE OF DECLARATION OF NULLITY OF MARRIAGE -

I am realizing now that the courts use different titles or names for court papers.

I was not issued this Decree of Declaration of Nullity of Marriage but I was issued a Certificate of Finality, the wordings of which are similar to what Jo was issued.

Same thing with me Jo, the American consul that interviewed me spent about 10 minutes reading the court decision regarding my annulment. It was really embarrassing because all the details of my married life were in that document and all I could do was to sit there quietly and turn red all over :blush::blush:

After reading ur reply, I examined my annulment papers carefully and indeed, there is a Certification issued at the LCR where the annulment was granted. Got worried for a while there... Now am relieved. Thanks for that PW. BTW, got the packet 4 today 10/20/06. Thanks.

I feel even worse now, they wouldn't help me. :( I could only talk to the lady that handles Immigration stuff. I told them that i'm over the 6 weeks time period they gave and they won't ask the government again why it is taking so long. She said that there isn't a time period, that i could wait a lot longer. I requested just to have them call and ask but she said it doesn't do any good, all they will tell her is if it is done or not. I have a hard time believing that. She said to call the office if i don't hear anything in a month. It doesn't make sense that if she can't do anything now what is she going to do in a month? I've tried all i know to do, you would think someone would have a heart! :bonk: I'm really bummed out

The only other option i have is to send it to my Congressmans office in Washington, but who knows how long that would take anyways. Guess i will just wait longer :clock:

With winter coming too, i don't feel too good about her flying in the snow if she ever gets approved.

Glad it worked out for you tho. Wish i could go there hehe.
