To speed the application process for a non-immigrant visa to the United States, the U.S. Embassy will require all visa applicants after November 1, 2006, to use an electronic application form available for free on the Internet. This form must be completed and presented to the Embassy on the date of your visa interview.

For the full story (Manila Embassy Website) - CLICK HERE

I am curious if this applies to K-1's and K-3's, which are technically non-immigrant visa's but handled by the immigrant visa section. In the last part of the posting, it seems to describe the procedures that non-immigrant visa applicants can use, like calling to schedule an appointment and visa-point that K-1's and K-3's cannot use. If this is the case, then people who have November interview dates should be provided this information in the K-packets and not blank copies of the forms.

Marilyn and Peter.

My instincts say this procedure applies to K1 and K3 visa petitions, and they will make the DS-156K and DS-157 electronic applications sometime in the future. However, I am speculating, but time will tell. I will call the Manila Embassy because I want to know (if someone beats me to this action then please ask on our behalf). I do wonder if the Manila Embassy will cease and desist in sending the DS-156 form within the visa packet and direct folks to the weblink. However, we may be expecting too much... too fast. LOL!

It already applies to tourist VISAs so I assume it will take affect immediately for K1 VISAs too. My Fiancee had to fill out the online forms and they would not accept any other form for her tourist visa application. If someone finds out for let us know. Payato

a question from my cousin and his fiance...

after being on AR for a week (to prove his domicile status in the US...since he's been living in Cebu for a year since the petition...) they had their second interview and things went well...

however, he said he saw the APPROVED sticker but it was pink and white (not the usual green and white)...is that still considered approved? they already paid delbros too and they ask the Filipino case-worker and he just gave them a thumbs up. i figured that's the same as approved right?

What I did was I just filled out the electronic forms of DS-156, 157 (I downloaded this since there's no available form that you can fill online). Then, I plan to bring the DS-157 to BPI and have that form validated. I will try that today and will let everyone know if it works.

If BPI insists on using their old DS-157 form for validation, then I will just bring the

1) validated DS-157 form (but filled out manually),

2) the new one I filled using Adobe and printed and

3) the DS-156 filled online (with barcode) on the date of the interview.

Then, let the officer choose which version he likes ;) hehehe..jk

Anyway, what's important is there's proof that you 1) paid for the fees and that 2) your DS-156 has the barcode.

I think, the US embassy wants the barcode on the DS-156 as this will allow them to just scan the barcode and retrieve your data from their database. It would be easier (and faster) than them manually encoding all your information to their computer system.

Cheers!

Thanks for the kind thoughts, robhankins. I'm currently waiting for NOA2 from CSC. I wish it was possible to apply though Vermont. They approve petitions in 2-3 weeks time.

I am so relieved to hear that StarProg. Are you back in the US now?

I wasn't when you asked, but I am now. Still trying to recover from the jet lag. I see Fely and I missed the typhoon in Manila by a couple of days. Wow guess we were lucky, it passed south of us in the Iba Zambales area, but we sure saw the destruction on the way to Manila and the airport. Fely's in Cavite right now and says the power is still out.

So, I'll be submitting the petition as soon as I come up with the $190. I can't believe after all this time we're finally able to start the immigration paperwork. I guess I need to catch up on things here on VisaJourney so I don't have any surprises from the ever changing procedures.

Thanks guys! :D I still can't believe it.

Panicked - there were no last minute surprises. I think the fact that my fiance was with me made a big difference. Some of the other girls really got grilled and they couldn't ask if they were approved or not. The consul asked eash of us only four questions.

John_and_Marlene - the pre-screener asked me about it but I just told her that I was in the Phils. already when we got the NOA2. She told me that I should have it and made a note in my form but the Consul didn't even bother to ask me about it.

Uling - i didn't get his name but all my fiance did was chat with him I think that worked!

I said I'd post my interview experience and what I've observed but I can't really sit down and do it right now. All our plans have changed. Instead of flying out bymyslef on the the 14th as originally planned, I will be leaving with my fiance on the 9th so there are really a lot of things to do.

Hopefully, I'll be writing my review (lol) when I get to the U.S.

Will be back online in a couple of days!

Updated to add sillygirl's approval and to add timeline of stormyrain. Don't forget to come back here for the delivery info sillygirl. You might forget us now that you're in 7th heaven :)

 it still hasn't sunk in. But don't worry, i won't forget about you guys. :)

That's another thing. We are going back to the USE this afternoon to pick up my visa!:D

My fiance asked the consul if it is possible to pick it up the following day (Thursday as i had my interview on Wednesday), but the consul said it's not possible because the system is acting up. So he said we can pick it up Friday, 2pm! When we got out, the guard saw the stub that I was holding and he remarked that we are the only ones who got expedited that day.

My fiance wasn't sure at all that it was possible but I told him it doesn't hurt to ask... so there! He told me that my stubborness pays off at times.

So for you guys, who would be going with their fiance for their interview, maybe you can also ask to pick it up instead of being delivered by Delbros.

My fiance now my husband is with me during my interview and it was a lil bit easy for me because he answered all there questions. We stayed at Best Western Hotel. We was 3 hours early on our interview. We told them to send the papers to our hotel and I got my papers on my birthday. and before that I receieved my medical appointment and interview during christmas day Dec. 25. After our interview and got approved, I went to CFO or CFMW, I forgot I guess that what it was.

They can send the papers to you in the Hotel where you staying.
