Manila Embassy Interview

I think the problem now is that the Manila embassy used to generate a pdf file of upcoming interview dates, but they have appeared to change this course of action and instead I have been told to consult a website and plug in my case # to see if the interview date has been scheduled. So, from the outside, it appears that the interview dates are taking longer than before. But from the few people that I know that have gone through this process, it took six-weeks or two-months after NVC before they knew the interview date as well. Historically I think it has been around 4-months from NOA2 until interview. So I don't things have changed all that much, just the manner of giving out the information.

My question is, since Jenalyn has received a letter from the Manila embassy stating they have received the petition, is it from that "received" date mentioned in the letter that we can begin "counting" the days?

Yes! At least that is what the Manila Embassy staff told me, but they also said that we would be issued an interview date somewhere between the end of Aug to early Sep. It seems that if there is not a law or guideline stating how things will be a particular aspect of the drawn out process, then it's a ####### shoot on whether the information given is credible or not.

Phil-Am POST K1 NOA2 Info…

(1). The National Visa Center (NVC) number is within my signature. NVC assigns your case number once your case is approved (NOA2). They also may perform a preliminary background check from what I’ve read then forwards your package/case to the Manila Embassy. This process usually takes anywhere from 14 – 30 days.

(2). Packet 4 (Manila Embassy) link is within my signature (acquired from the Manila Embassy website which gives directions on what documents are required by the beneficiary for the visa interview). The Manila Embassy number is within my signature. NOTE: If you dial 0 for the operator, ask for the Immigrant Visa Unit. The average interview is assigned approximately 120 – 150 days from the receipt of your package from the NVC.

(3).The Department of State (DOS) number is within my signature. After your case is approved (NOA2) and reaches the Manila Embassy, you may call DOS instead on the Manila Embassy to obtain status of your case and make inquiries concerning your interview date. NOTE: DOS has no direct participation in the K1 process.

(4). St. Luke’s Extension Clinic (SLEC) information is within my signature. SLEC is where the beneficiary goes to take the medical exam and vaccination. The process takes two days. Day 1 is the medical exam and Day 2 is the vaccination.

(5). CFO Guidance and Counseling Seminars are held in Manila and Cebu, with the corresponding links within my signature. The beneficiary may attend whichever location is more convenient. "Per Republic Act 8239 and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Order 28-94, Filipinos proceeding abroad as fiancé(e)s and spouses of foreign nationals are required to attend the CFO's guidance and counseling programs... " For more info (CLICK HERE). NOTE: As far as I know, this requirement is not stated within the K1 packet. However, the beneficiary can NOT travel without receiving the Guidance and Counseling Certificate and subsequent CFO stamp on the visa.

(6). The I-94 Arrival / Departure Form is within my signature. Foreigners (beneficiaries) complete the I-94 and the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer stamps the applicant’s arrival and departure portions at the Port of Entry (POE) when entering the States. You will need this for the Adjustment of Status process. NOTE: Even though it’s simple, I have supplied this so you will know what it looks like and what is required to be filled out.

Cheers!!!

I've seen two posters in www.pinoyinfo.net with interview scheduled on Oct. 12 and Oct. 16. Has anyone tried to call the Dept. of State [tel. (202) 663.1225 ext. 100] for their interview schedule? DOS seems to give more reliable info than embassy people. DOS has always given me correct info each time I called them in the past.

Hey you guys,

Its funny how we all hear different things. I will tell my story. I started calling the embassy the day I heard our file was shipped. At first I was told that they would schedule an appointment soon, and then they started saying longer and longer until it reached 120 days. They finally fessed up that because so many visas came in, and they don't know who they are talking to on the phone they just give everyone the same 120 day answer, true or not.

What I was unofficially told was every one whos visa arrived from NVC before the end of august should get a November appointment but that there was no guaranty because of all the Philippine and American holidays.

I was told in early September That they had 450 K-1s And 150 K-3s a couple of weeks ago I called again and I ask how many K-1s and K-3s they process per month , I was told 1000 in a normal month

Our Attorney in the philippines told us to expect late October or early November I said all the October appointments were taken and she said "Yah maybe you are one of those" I told her about the web site to check our appointments and she said they are not using that right now. I called the embassy and they confirmed that that the site had not been updated lately. My fiance was told to expect to be here in late November.

I don't know what the truth is you guys. I don't think anyone is lying or trying to mislead us I think they truly don't know but I think there is still hope that it won't be to long, but don't get mad if it is. I have a different story than you,but I still don't know anymore than you do.

I would like to know if everyone got the letter or just a few, and if this is something new or if they have sent this letter in the past , and if they have sent this letter in the past then how long after the letter did the appointments come.

PS tell your fiance to be nice to the postman!!

...do you think we will still have to wait another 120-150 days before they schedule a date from when they recieved it from the NVC a second time?...

That is a very good question. I don't know the answer, but for some odd reason I'm thinking they will put you poor souls back on the waiting list. Just because this process sucks, and nobody really gives a dahamn! Please call the Manila Embassy and inquire because I'm very interested in their response. I still have to follow up on whether interview dates are schedule a maximum of 90 days out, which could be the rational for the prolonged period of inactivity as far as assigning interview dates. Cheers!!!

It seems the USCIS, the NVC and the Embassy have all gone to "batch processing". There is no activity for a while, then "boom" - we see a flury of activity. Then silence again until the next batch. Maybe we will all see interview dates when the next batch processes. Maybe all the batch processing is based on the USCIS and then has a domino effect.

I had hoped to get married on Christmas Day but am soon ditching that idea with no interview date yet. While I now expect my process to reach 11 months, I know some who have waited much longer, but then again so many somehow sneaked past us in the queue.

Keeping the faith.

My actuall NOA1 is back on March 18th about when you sent yours in, so i'm right there with you.

Meh, nothing to see here.

i just called the Embassy and after giving my case number was told no appointment yet. operator knew question i'd ask. she said a December was most likely and to try calling same time next month. :( the November appointments have already been filled. i expected it to probably be a Dec. interview, but why do they have to wait so long to set the date. i try calling DOS tomorrow to see if told same thing.

Hi,

I tried to call the DOS this morning but they told me that there's still no interview scheduled yet. I just hope that this wait will NOT be that long. I haven't seen my fiancé for a year now.

God bless,

Tam
