Your interpretation of "first come, first served" would mean that all of us have to wait behind people with incomplete or incomprehensible petitions. Fair? Should we all wait behind the people with RFEs that don't reply for months at a time?

So imagine you are at the checkout line and the checkout line police assign you to a cashier, first come, first serve. You are assigned to line 23. Then someone down at line 46 has a problem with their debit card. So now everyone in all lines has to wait? I mean the guy at line 46 was in line before you, so YOU and all other people would have to wait while they check with his bank. Correct?

Use this time wisely. You have all your documents for the interview prepared? Translated? (if applicable of course) What are you doing to speed the process, not just the NOA2, along? Or will you wait until the consulate sends you packet 3 even though you can download it today? The surprise you may be in for, after all your grousing about your NOA2, is when you find you wait even longer to clear NVC and get an interview. If you do not have your documents ready for the interview, your wait will be extended by another 3-4 weeks.

Right, think of it as an multi-step adjudication process with "approval" as the most common outcome on the other end. It is not simply a minutes long "approval process". They should be starting in order but cases do not progress through the process at the same speed.

Just seems kinda funny this coming from someone who was approved for there NOA2 in 2 months !! Now i know its not going to be first come first serve it does seem like the VSC could do a better job of distributing cases so someone doesnt have to wait extra time because the luck of the draw put them with an incompetent case worker that takes longer then the others.

Its not just about people having "easier" cases that get approved so quickly. You see some with the same scenario..no rfe's nothing..one gets approved in x amount of months while another is y amount.

there are many variables, but the vsc employees is the main one imho.

like any work environment...you have people who come to work and work their butts off, and you have those who do the least they can to get by.

We K-3ers suffer with VSC in the same way

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

The assumption of it being first come first serve, is an assumption. it is not first come first serve. They get your petition thru their address....think of the number of petitions go to that address in a day, it is taken to USCIS in bulk, yours may have been the first one to the address, but its prolly not the first one on the top of the bulk of petitions

They should call it the K1 lottery! All we can do is pray for fast approvals. It seems that VSC is speeding up after a bulk transfer of petitions to CSC.

What does that mean for me? Not a darn thing

I read the post where there was an old adjudicator explaining how the process worked. Basically he said he would walk in, grab a box and sit down and start processing them. Each time he grabbed a box he would wand them in, resulting in a "touch", but then he would process other applications at the same time. The box selection was literally up to the contractors that they hired to shuffle the boxes around.

I spoke with someone else who worked with the USCIS and they described it as a scene from Indiana Jones with a government warehouse dedicated to just piles of paperwork.

So yeah, things may get mixed up from time to time and certain applications will go faster then others simply by luck of the draw. It's unfortunate!

You all have a good point but I will say if the guy in line 46 is screwed up kick him out to a problem line and go to the next person.

I have been through k1 before plum through to citizenship

But all of you are missing the real point

Do all of you realize that we are now paying 3 times the price for quicker processing than we was in 2003 to 2007

so thanks to MR. BUSH

WHERE IS ALL THE EXTRA HELP THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HIRED TO SPEED THINGS UP??????????

PLUS WE DID HAVE

TEXAS, CALIFORNA, NEBRASKA, VERMOUNT ALL OF THEM WERE DOING K1 & K3'S NOW YOU ONLY HAVE CALIFORNIA AND VERMOUNT.

You are now paying 3 times the price for half the service.

Personally I'm ready to pay double and get approved in 1 or 2 months. They have already "Accelerated Processing" only for I-129,

I think eventually they will do the same for K-1 visa, government needs MONEY. And K1, K2, K3 visas very good source.

Just think how many petitioners ready to pay double? That's why we are paying 3 times now.

I think the point you're missing is that if your petition is taking longer than others, you ARE the guy in line 46.

If you've been through the process before either as petitioner or beneficiary, that could explain some or all of the perceived delay.

The other service centers didn't go out of business. They just process other kinds of cases now. Nobody likes things when their case is taking longer than they hoped. My I-130 NOA1 took more than a month because of the holidays and the I-129F almost three times as long as my buddy but when all was said and done, his case slowed later and mine caught up. Both ended up being comparably fast but mine was two days faster overall. His filing to NOA2 was much faster than mine but my NOA2 to interview was much faster than his. Go figure.

Yeah, and not to mention, I LIVE in Vermont. I can SEE the VSC from my lakefront property, if the lake wasn't frozen I could swim there. I probably have an "in" and they give preference to Vermonters?

I am only speaking the truth, I would say the same if I waited six months. The cases get assigned as they come in, they do not all pop out the other end in order. And for all those griping about the wait until NOA2, remmeber that is just the START of the process. You will note in my timeline that it took 50% longer to get an interview date than the NOA2 and my case was NOT held up for AP at the NVC. The time between NOA2 and interview could be easily double what you wait for the NOA2. I guess what I am saying, if you are impatient now...ooooh, boy.

Like I said, YOU can do more to speed your case along by having all documents ready for the interview when the time comes.
