My fiance and I have an 18 month old child together and obviously he will be coming with us to the USA. However, he will be traveling as an American citizen since he has his passport and report of birth abroad papers. We did list his name on the 129F form because it said to list all children of the fiance. Not sure if we put his name on the DS-156K or not. It says to list all children and if they will accompany you to the USA. He will, but he won't be getting a K2 visa to do it. We will be putting her daughter's name there because she will be getting a K2 visa. I would hope that the visa officer will be able to see the difference in the children and not make a big deal if something is filled out wrong. However, I really don't want to chance it and have the forms filled out incorrectly and have that be the cause of denial or having to fill them out again and return the next day. So is that section on the application only to list all children or is it to show the children who will be getting a K2 visa? Thanks.

OK, I will assume this is a different child than the one you asked about in your other question, correct?

This child should not be listed as some one traveling with your fiancee on her application. Just as you would not be listed. This child is a US citizen and will not be traveling "on her visa" A child, K-2, does not complete a DS-156K (DS-156 yes, but not the 156K) so needs to be listed as traveling with another. A US citizen does not.

Typically, at the interview if there is an error or a confusion they will ask, that is what the interview is for. My wife had to coreect an erro in her son's DS-156 before our interview, it was absolutely not a problem. I would highly recommend you go to the inteview if you can

Try to look at this way. Could this child come to the USA right now without any visa? YES! He is a US citizen and has his own passport, he needs none of this K-1, K-2 stuff. He don't need no stinkin' visa! To paraphrase. You could go there now, pick him up take him home and leave him with Grandma while you go for the visa interview, he does not need to be listed.

Thanks. Yes this is a different child I'm reffering to. My fiance has a daughter from another man and we have a child together as well. Thanks for pointing out what forms need to be completed for the K2 as well. It's amazing how much information is not included in the instructions on the consulate's website. No can do for the interview. The consulate in Mexico doesn't allow anybody in to the visa center if you don't have an appointment. Also, the rules for Mexico seem to be a little different. Thanks again!
