I applied for a K3 visa. I have read that you automatically also file a CR1 at that time and that you can "abandon" the K3 process and go with the Cr1 instead. How do you go about doing this???? Do you somewhere down the line give you this option??? PLEASE HELP!!!!

hey betsy :)

The 130(CR1) and 129f(k3) are almost always approved at the same time. This means that you can follow the CR1 through NVC, and not persue the k3 visa interview.

So once they are approved, you can "choose" which path you wish to follow.

There are sme NVC "short cuts" and guides found here on VJ. They can help you speed up the CR1 process through NVC.

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Its the other way around... you need to apply for I-130 then I-129F also known as K3. You need to decide which one you wanted... basically they almost side by side in the approval..case scenerios, we have lots of people have the CR1 and K3 approved in the same day. If you want ur SP sooner after you get your NOA2 from USCIS, then go with K3...but u cant get a job or ssn until at leat 90 days and you have to do AOS. If you go with CR1 then the person can come and get a job right away, apply for SSN, and license. Its more of personal choice and finace!
