Hello everybody! I am very new to this website ... I came across it after typing "I-751 help" in Google ..

Anyway, GC will expire mid-June. Here's my problem...I lost my GC a while back and never bother to replace it .... bad idea, I know! And now the condition removal coming up, I don't have the original greencard! My employee should have a copy of it so .... finger cross!

Question is, do I need to file an I-90 to replace my GC? How long will that take? I don't wanna pay $370 for something I don't need. I'm not planning to leave US anytime soon so I don't need it for that purpose. Just to make sure I don't get in touble. Can I just go ahead an file I-751 and just wait for the condition to be removed and get a new GC then?

Here are stuff I gather so far.....

I-751 signed by my DH and I

Printed Photo .... about 10. We're thinking about adding more.

Car insurance with both of our name

Auto loan with both of our name

Letter from my landlord that we both live at the current address and about when we moved here. Company letter head. Not notarized tho...

Bank account statement with both our name on it ... not a very active one and is pretty newly open. We just switch bank

-----the primary CK account is in my name only and it's the one with both our paycheck direct deposit go to. we have a joint acct but we rarely use it .. will this be a problem?

Old checking account with both our name on it

Marriage Certificate

Life insurance of $400k with me being the beneficiary

Renter Insurance ... showing the address but his name is the only one on it

US Navy emergency contact data sheet and dependent record

A copy of my military ID with my husband being the sponsor

We are also getting ...

3 letters from friends and families

That's all I can think about. We are still pretty young so we don't have a lot of things established. The only thing we submitted for GC 2 years ago were bank statement and utility bill. No photo ... they asked for a photo during the interview so I showed him photo from my cell phone (we take taking pictures so it's very hard to find photo of us). Oh, my DH wasn't even at the interview ... he was on training with the Navy and the Navy refused to let him come (he was in Virginia and I was in Kentucky).

We are in Seattle now ... so we're going through CSC.

Thank you guys .. :)

Even though it's rarely checked you need to always have your GC valid and available. Also, if you lost it the law requires you report it lost with immigration and maybe even file a report with the police. if your employer has a copy that will only work for submitting a copy, but it won't file it you are ever asked for it. The law says you must always have it on your person (even though its rarely checked), however my uncle told me of several incidents of people being asked for it, and some not having it.

even if your accounts are not active or closed, anything you have w/ both names on it works. As much records as you can find is best, sometimes they don't need it, sometimes they do. I have seen people on here with tons of stuff and asked for more information later on.

One of the things you must send with your application - is a copy of the greencard (front and back) if you don't have it, you better apply for a replacement and send a copy of the receipt from that. You should use your joint account and send copies of the statements from across the 2-year period (I sent three statements - one 2 yr old, one 1 yr old and one recent); Also, what about credit cards in both names (and the statements) and utility bills in both names. Good Luck

Hello everyone! Thank you for replying. I just got off the phone with USCIS and they inform me that since my 90 day period is so close, to not worry about filing the I-90 and go ahead an file the I-751. After I file the I-751, I will get the receipt that extend my expiration date for a year which will allow me to travel in/out of the US and I can use that as a replacement of my greencard for the time being. After I'm approved, I will just get a new card.

SO thank goodness I don't have to pay the extra $370.00 for the I-90. They say that I can if they do ask to see the original greencard during the biometirc fingerprint or something that to just explain to them that I lost it and to make sure I have at least 2 other form of ID with me (passport, driver license, military ID, ..... blah blah blah) and I will be OK.

Other thing I'm going to add for the evidences are

2007 and 2008 tax return 1040W form

Copy of letters and e-mail he wrote me from deployment and bootcamp

A credit card statement with him being the primary and I'm the authorize user

Paperwork for foster parents application (showing that we are applying for foster parent licensing together)

I just got a question .... Can I stabler them together? Or should I always use paperclip????

I'd go with what the uscis recommends,

"In preparing your packet, please take note of the following:

*Do not use binders or folders that cannot be easily disassembled.

*Use ACCO fasteners to hold together thick or bulky applications or petitions. Two-hole punching the top of the material for easy placement in the file is appreciated.

*The use of tabs assist in locating items listed as attachments. The tabs should be placed on the bottom and not the side for ease in filing.

*Avoid using heavy-duty staples; instead use ACCO fasteners or heavy clips.

*Avoid submitting originals unless specifically required. Avoid submitting oversized documentation when possible."

If you have kept I-797D approval notice came with I-551 Permanent Resident Card, you will see A# printed in the bottom.

You can make the copy of I-797D notice for the replacement of the copy of green card, I believe.

Actually USCIS recommend to use bottom part of I-797D for I-751 or I-90 submission.

When you have the receipt (NOA1) for I-751, you can make appointment with local DO using InfoPass.

Bring your IDs - your passport and others -, I-797D copy, and I-751 receipt notice (NOA1).

Ask for I-551 stamp, which will valid your A# with additional 1 year, on your passport.

That I-551 stamp will work exactly same as green card.

You should have valid passport for that purpose.

Actually, it's the TOP portion of the I-797 as it has both your A# and the bar code.
