Selective Service registration

Quick (hopefully!) question about selective service registration.

I decided not to trust that USCIS had submitted my info to the SSS (as indicated in the I-485 instructions) because I didn't get the confirmation card that others have reported receiving in the mail. I tried to verify my registration on their website but it rejected my social security number, which is not surprising since I only got my card in the mail yesterday - if USCIS have submitted my registration, it will have been without my SSN. Next I tried to phone them up to see if they could verify a registration made without a SSN but I couldn't get through. I spent over an hour on hold (at long-distance rates!) listening to the message tell me my call would be answered shortly  before I decided to simply submit a registration online to cover myself in case USCIS haven't.

When I tried to submit the new registration, it again turned my SSN down, saying it's not in their verification database. I only got my card yesterday but the date on the card shows my number was 'generated' on 02/13/09.

Does anyone know how long it takes for an SSN to appear in the Selective Service System's verification database? Surely it should be there by now?

I'm rapidly approaching my 26th birthday so I'd rather know this is all sorted out so that there won't be any nasty surprises come N-400 time but they really are making it quite difficult to verify
