Hi everyone,

I'm the USC living with my UK wife in England. I have a job offer in the US which is an invitation by my current employer to relocate to the states. That, in addition to my income statements from last year, proves that I met the income requirements and will have a continuous source of income upon relocation.

I've also asked my employer to write the following letter for me:

"Dear Sir/Madam,

The purpose of this letter is to confirm that [Name] has been employed by [Company] of USA as a [Job title] in London since [Month & year] with a base salary of [salary] per year. He has recently been offered a unilateral job transfer to be relocated to the USA at a location of his choice where his title, duties, and salary will remain the same.

As a result of his transfer and relocation to the USA, he will have a continuous source of income and benefits from [Company]. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at any time."

Do you think this letter, along with my new contract, will be sufficient evidence for the I-864 affidavit of support?

What else might I need to show US domicile and meeting the income requirements?

Thanks in advance.

I still have a driver's license but it was issued by a state that's different from where we intend to move.

I also have US bank accounts, credit cards, and retirement plans (401k and Roth IRA).

OK, so for the I-864 affidavit of support, my wife and I will bring to the interview the following documents:

  • transcripts of last 3 years of tax returns
  • copy of 2008 W4
  • copy of recent pay stub
  • job offer letter
  • letter from current employer
  • US bank account statements
  • US credit card statements
  • retirement account statements
  • US driver's license

Anything else we might need or you would recommend?
