Its a shocking case BY, I've certainly not denied that.

What I do think is a little suspect is the idea that based on a few scattered headlines that you can legitimately conclude that not only did the boy do it exactly as described in the article (trial by media in other words) but that you have a full psychological workup on why he did it - and that exposure violence in the media is a strong part of that equation.

What seems clear is that you have a preconceived agenda to explain the crime rate in the US, and that any case that pops up in the news headlines can be hammered to fit that agenda.

Summary of a PD post:

  • Apparently not denying
  • Discredit evidence
  • Never justify or explain your own ideas, viewpoint, of the question at hand

Dude, you sing the same tune in every single post. And as I have said before, this is not a press conference where you simply get to interrogate the speaker but never provide any feedback or data of your own.

Therefore as asked earlier on, can you speculate why the homicide rate (per capita) is almost three times that of the UK, Canada and Australia? Almost more than them all combined. Yes or No. If no, then shut up and move along.

And I suggested that you started a new thread - to avoid derailing this one.

A boy killing his stepmother (if that's what happened) has ####### all to do with comparisons between the relative crime rate between the US, UK, Canada and Australia; nor indeed does it have anything to do violence in the media. In fact as far as that goes - these are quite different topics, and none of the information released into the public domain about this case suggests that media violence was a factor, nor is an extreme case particularly useful in explaining differences in crime rates.

Summary of a BY post:

  • Deflection
  • Illogic
  • Inability to comprehend points made by others
  • Grand pronouncements with spurious personal testimonial "backup"
  • Affected outrage and accusations of bullying.

I especially like your last point - that I "Never justify or explain my own ideas, viewpoint, of the question at hand".

The question at hand (in case you missed it) is of the boy (allegedly) killing his stepmother: extreme - certainly, tragic - definitely.

You're the one whose trying to connect the dots between a news headline and a preconceived agenda you've cooked up in your head. A spurious rationale - that you can't explain without changing the subject: from violence in the media to "culture" and fingerpointing the relatively high homicide in the US.

I'd worry more about explaining your ideas, if I were you. You're doing a piss-poor job of it so far...

Grow up BY. This thread wasn't "personal" until you chose to make it that way. It just goes to show how shoddy your reasoning skills are.

Illogic

...

You out of all people calling me illogical is laughable. It's you who is the illogical one mate. Just because you don't understand someone's reasoning or they don't explain it on a level that you will comprehend does not mean that they or their point is illogical.

I especially like your last point - that I "Never justify or explain my own ideas, viewpoint, of the question at hand".

Face it, you don't. All you do is try to take apart, find weaknesses and poke holes in another person's post. All while never actually stating why you are correct.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I think I understood your point very well - we went from the OP article to an explicit claim from you that violence in the media was responsible for the killing; and from there to pointed questions about why the homicide rate in the US is higher than other OECD countries.

There's no logic there, just innuendo - and you pushing what you want to believe (as opposed to what the available facts of the "the question at hand" actually support).

If you put as much effort into constructing your arguments as you do into how crying about how hard done by you are - you might come across better, and not like someone who has a major chip on their shoulder and an inferiority complex to boot.

I don't trust the media when it comes to most crime reports. Unfortunately, Google tends to find all sorts of data, most of which is from sources such as CNN and Fox News or somebody's blog and Facebook entry.

Using the media as the one and only source of information is a highly questionable practice. Common sense is required to filter out the nonsense.

An Italian suppository?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

So now it's an inferiority complex. While you wouldn't know what a discussion or honest opinion was even if it slapped you in the face, you at least have a creative mind when it comes to insults.

Though it also shows, once again, you have nothing valid to say or add.

I had plenty to say. You just keep insisting on changing the subject.

More than that - you started the ad-hominems. Again.
