The State of California needs to seize the assets of everybody that contributed to this stupid fiasco, in order to support the kids. Then they need to sterilize this women before she breeds again!

She has used up all her eggs. She can't breed again.

This is messed up, but the media are not doing these kids any favours. The amount of hatred and vitriol towards one person is appalling, no matter what the mistakes that led here.

As for me, the disgust is over the actions of this woman and the doctor. BOTH of them. This wasn't a one time mistake. She did this over and over. It is only because of the octuplets that it was brought to such worldwide attention. One time mistake... sure, it could be looked over and support could be given. 6, count them, SIX different attempts? That goes beyond just making a mistake.

I feel very sorry for these kids. They certainly don't deserve all that they will deal with in their lives as a result of their mother's (and doctor's) selfish actions. Starting with the physical & developmental problems stemming from premature birth continuing onto the media attention that will surely follow them. This is not even including how they will make it financially.

Empathy for the kids, yep. Empathy for the mother and doctor, nope.

Is it truly so difficult to understand? It is appalling to you that the public has a problem with such rampant irresponsibility that affects SO many people, including those innocent children? If the public doesn't express their unhappiness with something like this, then more and more people will do such things and then want donations and attention. It will be accepted. That is NOT where I would like to see this country go.

This is not the first time you have expressed your judgement of people who are voicing their unhappiness with this particular situation. I don't see why it's OK for you to say how appalling it is to see their disgust, but not OK for them to say how appalling it is for this woman (and her doctor) to be so selfish.

IMO, health professionals should be held to higher standard of ethics. This woman would not have been able to do what she has done without the medical expertise of very unethical doctor. But even more importantly, why isn't the fertility field not as regulated as other medical practices? From what I've read, there are many childless couples pressuring their fertility doctors to implant several embryos, which is why we are seeing higher incidences of multiple births. There's something very Frankenstein-like about the whole fertility field.

I'm pro-life, but having 8 babies at same time is not normal. This is animal behavior. She put her babies on risk for having them at same time.

Obviously, this women not only can fathom other people raising her kids, she cannot also fathom responsibility.

Lady, if you're listening to this raising 14 kids require alot more than "I have no choice." You also need to nurture their life, and not just blindly push them out. That requires alot more money, and attention. That is what responsibility is meant for raising kids.
