Hi my name is Robert I am new here and new to this whole process. I am a US citizen from California and my wife is from the Philippines. We were married in British Columbia Canada where my wife is currently working under a Canadian work visa. She has just recently submitted her paper work here in Canada to obtain her Permanent Residence status and was told that it will take her 6 to 12 months to get that status. We would like to start the paper work in the US for her to join me in southern California, but I am not sure of the process and am reaching out to the community of people that are going through the same process. I would like any and all help that I can get on this matter. If any one can contact me on my e-mail it is mindrack123456@yahoo.com Thank You Robert and Lordelynn.

hey. welcome to VJ.

a good place to start is the guides up at the top of the page. you can see a step by step guide on what to do and make your choice of which visa to file for her.

good luck on your journey. you will find many kind people here willing to help any way we can :)

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Welcome. You've found the right place. It's best to start with the guides and then post remaining questions in the appropriate public forums.

Welcome Robert! if she had just submitted her papers for Permanent residence in Canada, i'm not certain if you can file for a US visa for her right away until she gets her permanent residence in Canada. But at least she can go with you in CA for a visit, that i'm pretty sure of.

Anyway, you might want to contact the appropriate agencies of the government of Canada about this. You can start with that to sort out her Permanent Residence in lieu with your intention to file for a US visa for her. Good luck!

God Bless!!!
