Actually, you are still within a normal Pakistan timeframe. My husband's case spent 7 months in AP in Pakistan, and most people don't get out for a minimum of six months once placed in the process.

Though it does not sound like good news to you now, usually they are out at an average of six to eight months which is a bit shorter than other Muslim countries. I know it feels like a black hole, but be patient. You can contact a Senate or House liaison (or both) but all they are going to do is try to find the source of the AP and make sure that your case is being paid attention to. Most of the time the consulate won't even take these seriously until after six months. If you want to contact your reps you can look up their information at:

www.house.gov or www.senate.gov

After you've filled out the constituent services form, call the office and ask to speak to their immigration liaison so that you can explain the situation in person and know who to ATTN the fax to. Remember that they service the US Citizen so the request must come from them, BUT the applicant will need to sign as well, since the AP is on them.

It can take quite some time when a case goes into administrative review.

See this person's timeline:

By all means, try Sen. Mark Warner's office. Sen. Jim Webb is the "senior" senator but his staff is slow to respond, and he does not seem to be service-oriented. Warner's people can help dislodge your case. If you are in the 9th congressional district, Rick Boucher's staff works wonders, as well.

Ditto, and I will go further, Webb's office is FREAKING WORTHLESS!

never calls back, never gets results, and the immigration liaison I spoke to truly had NO IDEA, what the heck he was talking about and sounded naive and young enough to be my child (I'm 28 years old. . . )

Allowed him to screw around with my case for three months before moving on thinking he couldn't possibly just be useless. . .contacted John Warner's (retired) office and his rep had an answer (and really BIG background information) within two weeks. And this was dealing with DOS, AP through Paksitan, processing through Canada.

We are here with you--my husband has been in AP for 8 months now. Not fun. Losing my mind, my patience, giving up hope--don't know if things will ever end. I have contacted senators, congresspeople galore. They can not expedite, give same info as the embassy--nothing they can do, blah, blah, blah.

Visa Journey:

Marriage: July 6, 2007

I-130 Sent: August 7, 2007

NOA1: September 24, 2007

I-129F Sent: September 25, 2007

NOA1: October 9, 2007

NOA2: March 7, 2008

Packet 3: March 28, 2008

Interview: June 24, 2008

AP: June 24, 2008

10 months in AP--will this ever end?

My congressman office had been v helpful n respond w/in few days=) they call in every 2 mons for status check themsevles for me ... however none culd expedite=) they get the same answer 'pending under AP"
