Lost Passport Before - Should I Mention During my AOS Appointment?

Hi all,

My AOS interview is coming up in March. I read that some people are told USCIS needs to do additional background/ security check at the end of the interview and hence no approval stamp on the same day. I lost my passport where there were a valid US visa on it before but later report lost and applied for a new visa on a new passport. Every time I entered the US to see my then boyfriend, they held me up in the "questioning" room so to clear all the confusion. Should I mention that in the interview about the lost passport so it may be easier for them to follow up (instead of have them dig up everything in the system again)?

I also lost my original birth certificate during moving home. When I filed my packet, I submitted the "Certified Copy of An Entry in A Register Of Births - kept in terms of the births and deaths registration ordinance" issued by HK immigration. They would not issue an original again. Would the word "Certified Copy" be a problem? I noticed on my AOS interview letter indicates an original birth certificate is required.

Thanks!

Best,

Ginny

Hi, I'm in a very similar situation as you. Lost my birth certificate, finally got a copy. Then someone stole my passport.

What did you end up doing? Did you mention that in your application at the beginning or waited to get a new passport before applying?
