So I have been calling washington, dc to get the case status of our fiance petition to get the interview date....

every day i have been told it looks like everything is in great order but we are still waiting on the interview date

today i was told it is in 'administrative processing'

anyone know what this is?? is it a step ahead then what i was at before or is this just the same step everyone is at and this person just decided to give me a little bit more info then the other times i have called??

thanks for your help,

Why not call the Embassy? The embassy is the one scheduleing the interview.

because i am not spending 1.20 pound/minute to call overseas plus the charge per minute on my phone. i was told that washington will have the status of the case just like the us embassy in london will. it doesnt cost me anything to call the washington number and i dont really think its the greatest idea to be calling london and being put on hold and then just to maybe be told they are still waiting on a interview.

Perhaps you can get a cheap calling card to make the call rather than your cell plan rates.

Found some great news....just looks like they are doing normal processing of the forms for the interview

found this ---------->http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/iv/fprocessing.html

On receipt of the visa applicant's file from the National Visa Center (NVC) in New Hampshire, the Immigrant Visa Unit of this Embassy will send the applicant information on the steps that he or she is required to take to process the visa application, including instructions on completing the forms in support of the visa application. The fiancé(e) visa packet of a biographic data form DS-230-I Part I, Form DS-156 (in duplicate), Form DS-156K, (in duplicate), Form DS-157 (in duplicate), Form DS-2000 and a document checklist, form IV-15K.

What do I do first?

The biographic data form DS-23O-I should be completed for each person applying for a visa, regardless of age. The form may be photocopied if insufficient copies are received for each family member. The DS-230-I should be completed and returned immediately to the Immigrant Visa Unit at 5 Upper Grosvenor Street, London, W1A 2JB, in order for the Embassy to begin the administrative processing of the application. Failure to return the DS-230-I promptly will delay the processing of the application. At the same time, please complete and return the form DS-156 and DS-156K and DS-157. Note: Please do not sign the the DS-156 or DS-156K. The forms must be signed before a consular officer on the day of the visa interview.

What is the second step?

Assemble all of the relevant documents required in support of your application and forward the document checklist, IV-15K, to the Immigrant Visa Unit. These documents must not be mailed to the Embassy. You will be required to furnish the original of all documents and one copy on the day of the formal visa interview and medical examination.

Evidence of Support: An applicant for a K visa is not required to file an affidavit of support, form I-864 at the time he or she applies for a fiancé(e) visa. However, the Immigration and Nationality Act does require the applicant to establish to the satisfaction of the consular officer at the time of the application for a visa, and also to the satisfaction of an officer of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration at the time of application for admission to the United States, that he or she is not likely at any time to become a public charge.

What happens next?

On receipt of the DS-230-I, the DS-156, DS-156K, DS-157 and IV-15K, the Immigrant Visa Unit will perform any additional processing which may be required and advise you concerning the scheduling of the medical interview and the appointment for the formal visa interview.

Note: The Immigrant Visa Unit must be in receipt of the approved petition from the National Visa Center before beginning the administrative processing of the application. While you are waiting for notification from the Immigrant Visa Unit that they are ready to begin processing your application, you may wish to begin assembling the documents you will be required to furnish on the day of your visa interview. This may expedite your application somewhat as certain documents may take a while to obtain.

Perhaps you can get a cheap calling card to make the call rather than your cell plan rates.

Actually, you can usually get better info from the DOS than the London "extortion line" -- no idea why, but it seems to work this way. It is also impossible to call the UK number from most non-BT telephone lines (including mobile phones), and the 1.20/min is a flat rate, no getting around it, so calling cards will not help. The only time it really pays to call the UK number is to reschedule an interview or to get the secret email code to pass on information like a change of address.

Doesn't make sense, but that's just the way it is for London.

DOS in DC has their database updated in real time. The foreign extortion lines usually have updates once a week. Call DC or email the Consulate or Embassy.
