Hello

Please could someone assist/clarify?

According to Ling Che NVC shortcut guide we need 4 passport photos of beneficiary (in the DS-3032 part) but nowhere else further on does it say when to mail them or with which forms.

We've already paid the fees, and I'm putting together the two packets, the I-864 & the DS-230.

Please could anyone advise?

Many thanks in advance.

You need to include 2 of the photos with your DS-230. It's funny that some get RFE for writing in pen and some don't. People have been saying to use pencil (but I couldn't get it to write on the back of my photos) or felt tipped pen. I used a Sharpie ultra fine tip permenant marker and just let it dry really well. I then put them into a small zip lock bag which also had my name and birthday and case number on it (excessive I know, but just in case it got seperated from the packet of other stuff). Anyway, so far we have not heard anything.

You will also need photos for your medical.

That is exactly what we did (except we were able to write lightly with a pencil) and had no problems at all. Good luck.

Thank you all for your help! :star:

Unfortunately, I didn't do a cover letter for either the DS-230 or I-864, but I did put them all together in order, seperated by paper-clips, I hope that's good enough.

My husband's employer have their own immigration lawyers, and they have been nothing but a burden and constant delay. I finally had enough last week, after the 'professionals' didn't realize that the fees had to come from a US bank, and they are in Canada. They should send themselves the NVC website link they so kindly sent us. So they were going to arrange for a money order which would take 3-4 weeks to clear at NVC.

I had enough, I paid the fees, we put all the information together this weekend, and sent it out this morning. But I didn't have any of paperwork that the lawyers received, but I followed LingChe's shortcut, so I hope it will all be okay.

Lesson learned - never ever believe someone can do a better job than you when it comes to something that really matters.

Thank you everyone on Visajourney - your feedback, guidance, information has been invaluable and greatly appreciated.

They tol dme that they need the cover letters to procede, this might be a problem for you. I would call the NVC and ask them about that.

I couldnt have said it better about the lawyers. I hired the worst law firm known, valentini law in NYC i basically did all the work myself, then they threatened to stop working on my case cause i was to on top of them. they were suppose to file 01/08 didnt file till after 03/08. 9 months later nothing from th eUSCIS so i called my local congresswomen and she got involved. It was a nightmare WASTE OF MONEY = LAWYER for this anyways....

I think this depends what Patrycja is referring to...

Patrycja - Do you mean the barcode cover letters from when you paid online, because I believe THEY are required as proof you have paid and so that NVC can link all your required docs and fees together - if you mean a cover letter written by the petitioner listing all the contents that you have mailed to them - I am sure you could get by without this!!

Okay - well after our history of delays and rfe's I didn't want to take any chances....

luckily the fed ex doesn't pick up the mail from the office until 3pm, so I was able to cut and paste a quick cover letter.

Thank you A&M, yes I did include the coversheet with the bar code, just not the letter listing what documents were included. Not to worry, now there is the bar code sheet AND a coversheet with a list of documents in the envelope.

Thank you all for your help...

fingers/toes/hairs crossed that we have some good news in about 2-3 weeks when they are scheduling.

Thank you all again for your tremendous help !!

You send in TWO passport photos with the DS-230 package. Write your name & NVC Case number on the back of the two photos and put them in a little ziploc bag, staple the bag to a piece of paper (on the paper write name & NVC Case number again). That way they can't get lost! I put them right in with all my other certified copies of everything....

The other TWO passport photos I believe go along with your medical later on after the NVC says your case is complete.

:)
