hi VJ friends,

i want to include child support in order to get my annual income above poverty line,but child support is not order from court but it is is direct deposit from my ex-husband employer (US navy),can i just write explaination letter + bank statements (shows money is coming from navy),is it good enough or wht should i do???

per tax law child support is not income to the receipent. however things wuld b diff if it's an alimony!

per tax law child support is not income to the receipent. however things wuld b diff if it's an alimony!

For immigration purposes, court ordered child support can be counted as income on an affidavit of support. If the money is direct deposited, I suspect it IS court ordered but it doesn't have to be. In this context, "court ordered" simply refers to the fact that a specific dollar amount of child support was awarded in the divorce decree.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
