Hi all!

I'm sharing this horrible experience today with one of the USEM workers.

My fiance called USEM this morning inquiring about our case, we just want to know if we can make a schedule for my medical and interview early since we know our Manila Case Number already from NVC when he called NVC last Feb. 17. He told the USEM staff too that i will be needing the confirmation email of the schedule for getting a request letter from the USEM which i will be needing too in applying for Police Clearance at Japanese Embassy that will take 2-3 months. The staff told him that they only have our electronic case number but not in their system yet, we have to wait till they receive the hardcopy.

Around 3PM this afternoon, I made a follow up call to USEM, I asked if how long it will take for them to input our case to the system when they receive the hardcopy. A female staff answered me that they do not know, it depends on the workload. I explained to her about the Police Clearance and that I am hoping to set my schedule early so I can have the Confirmation Email early too. She said, the USEM will only release the request letter after the interview. I was shocked! I told her that some of the K1 filers got the request letter when they had the confirmation email. She then said that that's not the case anymore and then I asked her when did that policy started since one of my friends got the letter like just this month only. Her voice was irritated already and I really don't know why coz I was talking to her patiently and calmly :innocent: even if she sounded mean to me. She did not answered but said that I have to go to USEM but with no guarantee that the guard will let me go inside. I explained to her again that I am from Cebu and I want to make sure that if i will go there, I wont be just wasting my money and time. She snorted that my problem is not her problem anymore and I have to find way to get that letter on my own. Wow! :wow: I really cant believe she said that. I told her that the reason why im calling it is because they are working there and they know what we need to do. She was not able to reply coz the call was cut...I was saved by the bell..dont have enough phoneload. One thing I'm sure though, I can't take it anymore what ever she will say. That staff surely is not in the good mood and Im hoping she's not like that everyday. Bless her.

Anyway my fiance will call again tomorrow and hoping they will be nice to him.

PEACE TO ALL!!! (L)

Generally the US Petitioner get's treated a lot better than PI citizen calling the USEM.

I think they are bombarded by phone calls.

Is it right, no. But it's just the way it is......

Hmmm... I think you just got a cranky one who's having PMS. I was the one furious and rambling at them when I called as they got my address wrong. Anyway, he was nice... So I guess you can try your luck next time and remind them not to give you an attitude if they do next time.

If this is the case I called it discrimination....all should be treated fairly!!!! I think the beneficiary was just too pressured with the time frame then she can't accept the answer because its not the answered she wanted to hear. Day, taga cebu sad to hulat lang kay dili ra man ikaw ang ilang gi cater daghan man, ayaw adto Manila na dili sigurado imong lakaw kay kapoy baya na mahulog lang sa wala imong hago.. Wait lang intertinon man na imong case.....

If they are rude, just tell them straight that you dont want that kind of attitude. But never shout, just make your voice firm, a.k.a teacher's voice. It works most of the time.

Yes, it is very, very sad that we can actually say this is happening here in the Philippines. At that time, I was only stopping myself to say something she won't like to hear coz I was a little scared that they might actually do something to delay our case. That girl didn't know who she wasn't talking with. I will be patient until I have my visa in my very own hand and then i'll make sure what she did, her superior will know :bonk: .

It is her job to cater every single call and even if she is cranky, that doesn't give her the right to give wrong information. Pasalamat siya mabait :innocent: ako nung panahong yun.

Salamat mga sis sa opinion nyo.

Peace again! (F)

Well, my Filipina wife lived and worked in Indonesia for just under a year. Indonesia required her to appear IN PERSON to get the police report! I called the US Embassy and asked them what they suggest to do as well, and they told me "I guess she will just have to go to Indonesia!" How stupid! I mean, there has to be another way.... Anyways, I pressed the issue, and the woman also told me that I would have to figure it out for myself. I lost my temper... Isnt it HER job to know the answers?? She asked for our names...

Anyways, after hours on the phone with the embassy, I finally decided to try to call the Indonesian Consulate in the Philippines, and a man there with the title of "International Police Officer" was so nice. He had a friend in Indonesia, and he made all the arrangements for us, had my wife come to see him, and through the mail he got her the police report as well as took care of getting her the the Filipino National Police Record.

In the end, all was well. She passed hehr interview and will be with me May 3rd.

I think we spoke with the same woman at the embassy... how heartless she was...

you should understand because its not easy to work in a busy offices...people get to be like that when they are working in a busy offices because of the work load...try to put yourself in their shoe...yes they work in usem but its not there responsibility to tell you what to do about some papers that you need to have...like police clearance...i think its your responsibility to know what to do right? when i was calling the usem the staff just hang up on me after answering my question and i understand coz they are busy..and of course they will address it to the petitioner because the petitioner is the one who filed not the beneficiary...its just a matter of understanding them and not think about discrimination or whatsoever...what if your busy and someone in the phone keep on bugging you about their papers...arent you gonna loose patience? just think of it.

I've spoke to them a couple of times already, and I've never had any attitude once from them. From scheduling the interview, to calling and talking to Lorane(not sure if that's how you spell her name  ) and Grace with no problem. They've actually put me on hold so they could talk to the CO for the correct answers.. but has to do with US embassy questions... not other embassy questions requirements, just becuase they work there, doesn't mean they have to have ALL the answers..

If you knew that Indonesia required you to appear in person, you should of just called them up and see if there was something else they could do for you, as this was not a US matter.. it's an Indonesian matter, they make the rules for their requirements, not the US. You would of saved lots of time and frustration going to them first.. consider it a lesson learned I guess..

And you have to realize, it's the US Embassy, they will cater to the US Citizen before catering to locals calling in, especially if you're trying to call the line that is stated for US citizens to use..

All n all, glad everything turned out great for you and your fiance... best wishes to you both..

Im sorry to disagree. Saying you don't know is different from giving wrong information and being rude is not an excuse too.

Oh, I agree somewhat with your OP, I was more responding to Brian and Jopay.. but on the same note, ppl will have bad days, and you probably got them on one of those days.. I'm sure it's ruff for them to get so many phone calls a day and hearing alot of the same questions over and over and even from ppl that don't have their cases there yet and are probably calling them up on a daily basis..

Alot of ppl jump the gun, cus they want to get things done.. and it's understandable.. but like alot of ppl also been saying, they seem to be more nice to the petitioner, due to them being a USC.. that's why I didn't have my fiance call them once if there was something we needed to know or find out, I call, and they always treated me nice and always got the answers I needed..

Hope things go better on the rest of your journey and you get your visa soon...

I wasnt jumping the gun, and I AM the petitioner. This American immigration officer was VERY rude, and she should find a different line of work.

Thank God not everyone at the USEM was like she was.

I have an EXTREMELY stressful job in health care, working day in and day out, 16 hours a day with alzheimers patients, and so I know what stressful is, and I also know how to be considerate and helpful, no matter the stress.

I didn't say you in particular was jumping the gun and I know you were the petitioner, but you also stated you 'pressed' the issue, so I'm sure you also started to irritate the staff that was mearly stating the facts from what you gave her/him as the requirements for obtaining the clearance from Indonesia. Just consider yourself to be a better person for handling stress better than the one you talked to...

But I guess my point was, after getting frustrated with her, you should of done what you did @ the end in the first place, call the Indonesian department that was responsible for giving police clearance and see if they could help you out.

All n all, things are all done and your on your way to being together and hope no more stumbles along the way!
