Hi VJ Members!

I just wanna share what happened to me last week and today at St. Luke's. We went to SLMEC Wednesay, Feb. 18 at 11:30 am. We went through everything that were to be done on the first day. We were told to come back by Friday at 1pm for the results since I have a child and they need to observe the skin test done on her. When we came back last Friday, I was called to approach counter G and was told to fill up a 3-page form which was all about Psychiatric Evaluation. The girl who attended to me said that it was sort of an SOP to those who have scars on their wrists or arms. The physician who did my physical exams asked me how I got my scars and I told her it was a slash from a knife when I was help up 10yrs ago. I didn't really think it would such a big deal since what was more important to me was to pass the "medical exams" so it didn't occur to me that I would have this uch trouble because of my scars. I was really upset about that but I was more relieved coz my daughter and I are safe healthwise.

We waited for my daughter's name to be called...for her xray and supposed vaccination. But we were told to come back Monday.

Anyway, I came back this afternoon at 1pm for my Psychiatric Evaluation sched and my daughter's vaccination at 2pm. When my name was called after like an hour, I was asked to proceed to the 6th floor where the Psychiatrist's office was. I told him my story but apparently he didn't believe me and he even insinuated that I had stitches done on my wrist which I have not. I have keloid which would make the scar even more prominent and protruding. he asked who treated me, I told him it was my sister... He meant who did the stitches! There were no stictches done at all! he can check all the hospitals for any record and he would see none! He insulted me and told me I am inconsistent. He said he studied this profession and still is studying, then how come he can't tell a stitched scar from the opposite?! I asked him why he thought i'm what he thinks I am and he got even more upset. I was really dumbfounded. I told him please don't make this as a ground for visa denial..I got so nervous. I was like a child being interrogated. I just shut up and asked if I should go...then he answered "you may leave".

I'm really scared. I felt like the world just crushed on my shoulders. But we went through with my daughter's vaccinations anyway. She was released and they took her passport. I dunno if I should assume we can go on with the interview because they got her passport assuming my daughter can't of course go to the embassy for interview without me. I was told earlier that I have to call St. Luke's for my results in 2-3 days from today for my results, and that's when I'd know if my interview is still pushing through on March 5 which is next week. Gosh! Why are they making it so hard? I cancelled our trips without refund from PAL because we got a non-rebookable ticket. My daughter missed her classes for 3 days and now we have to stay a little longer til I'm through with this horrible experience! Time, money, emotions and physical efforts are wasted for a journey i'm not sure I will ever succeed. It's frustrating and stressful.

Fellow VJ Members, Do you think just because the psychiatrist didn't believe me, it would be a ground for visa denial? I'm really worried and sad for all my loved ones...my daughter and my fiance. :( I'd appreciate an insight about thi from those who have experienced the same situation. Thanks. More power to us!

You should be fine, As you told the truth.

That is the one thing that pisses me off about the Philippines, Is people in authority try to push people around, especially woman.

In USA we would of told the doctor to "Get Fu@ked" and stick his evalutiion up his A$$.

That is one reason I went to the Interview and CFO with my fiance, I was waiting for someone to pull this type Power Trip on my Fiance, but lucky we didn't encounter it.

Just play thier game, and tell them it was only a scar from a accident, and stick to your story.....

Sheesh!

I have many scars which are all very visible from different kind of accidents. First, I have one in my forehead which I got when I was like 6 years old when my brother pushed me, and I banged my head in our wood furniture. Then, I have long scar in my foot which I got when I was like 9 years old when a bottle of coca-cola fell down from the fridge, then cut my left foot. Then, I have in my left foot again, long one, because of my operation when I got accident last December. I wonder if they will undergo me that kind of test because i got so much painful accidents, they might think I have suicidal attempt. Just thinking, because you got scar in the arms because of helping which is obviously an accident.

Hi Tallcoolone!

Thank you for taking time to respond to my concerns. I appreciate your support. :-) I am really stressed right now. I should wait til Thursday to know if I passed or failed. My daughter's gonna miss more than a week in class because of this. I don't know if basing on that freakin psych evaluation, I can be denied of a Visa. I don't think they're in the position though. Before going through all the burden of this issue they should've arranged and included PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATION in the requirements for petition and not NOW when time, effort and lotsa emotions have been invested. I feel sad not just for me, but more so for my fiance and daughter. Maybe if my fiance were with me, I wouldn't have been scrutinized like a street puppy! Maybe he studied his profession, sure...that is why he had the right to interrogate me that way but calling me a liar because he thinks I had stitches done is really off! He should study further.

From my experience, the physician will ask you where you go those scars. I think it varies. They oly look for suspicious looking scars. If she asks you, just tell the truth. If you're going to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, so be it. I think the only thing they want to prove is that you are not going to harm yourself or anybody. I just hate it that they are so rude, esp the psychiatrists. Just because they study that profession doesn't give them the license to scrutinize people esp making you appear you lied when you are telling the truth.

Your fiance should contact his senator or congressman about this right now. He shoulld tell them the story just as you have said it here. This is the sort of thing you want to get outside help with right away.

Really? This sounds really serious then. :( Do you think what happened today may affect our application? I'll inform my fiance about this, though I hope I can go on with the interview and prove them wrong. Thanks for your advice.

we had the same experience, the only difference is that, i am annulled with a psychological incapacity as a ground. i was insulted too by this BALD CHINITO DOCTOR just the other week, and it was sooooo damn horrifying. worst than that, i was referred to a further psychological examination, which costs us 3k, and was done at PEPS QC. well, everything went well, and i just had my papers released and interview rescheduled yesterday. It was one hell of a process. but in the end its all worth it.

I think your case will do just fine, we just paid them 1k to insult and degrade us. keep up the faith :)

Live your life with arms wide open, Today is where my book begins, The rest is still unwritten..
