hello , i have a question to ask, a friend of mine here in the philippines got her fiancee k1 petition approved, and she just got her letter from the embassy to schedulle her medical and interview, the problem is that her fiancee does not want to go foward with the visa, and has terminated their relationship, my friend wants to know how to cancel the petition and is the petitioner require to call or write to anyone? my friend is concern that if this petition is not cancelled, it will cause her problems in future relationships with the us embassy here in philippines.

it's usually the petitioners job to cancel it not hers.. who submitted it should be the one to cancel it. Tell her to tell the ex-fiance to write a formal letter to USCIS or even just call and tell them they are canceling the petition.

Have the petitioner write a notarized letter to USCIS cancelling it. She can also contact the USEM and inform them also.

Petitions are "withdrawn" by petitioners or denied or revoked by USCIS, never "cancelled". Yes, it's a good idea for her to send a letter to USEM in response to the P3, informing them she does not intend to apply for the visa because the relationship with the petitioner ended. Notarizing that letter and keeping a copy would be good.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

Let the petitioner cancel the petition. She will then receive a cancellation notice from the USEM. If ever she will fall in love again with another US citizen he can petition her. I've been in the same situation before. So, if you have more questions please feel free to ask.
