I am petitioning parents as well and I am exactly where you are right now except I have already sent in the two affidavits of support. Are you petitioning both parents? For the majority of embassies the NVC processes and reveiws all the documentation and these are called appointment posts. If the embassy your wifes's parents will attend for interveiw is in a country that isn't an appointment post then I am sure they would tell you. If your wife's parents are already in the US then I am not sure.

What I suggest you do is call the NVC ( The phone number is on the website) and speak to an operator and check the NVC wants all the documentation sent to them which I strongly suspect they do. They reveiw everything and forward it for interveiw.

Remember you need two of everything if you are petitioning both parents and also you will need an orginal or certified copy of a birth certificate for the petitioner and/or a marriage certificate if the name has changed since birth to prove the relationship. If they are being processed together and they have a marriage certificate in common or the petitioner only has one birth certificate the NVC operator advised me to put the orginals with one petition and a photocopy on the other and make a note of this to the reveiwer in the cover letter or similar. The NVC also wants a photocopy of each certificate or supporting documents in addition.

If you find out they do want everything sent to them and need any help , let me know. I have my parents's packets waiting to go less a police certificate and have spent a lot of time researching to get it right. Happy to share it with you. Running two petitions concurrently can be a bit of a challenge!

I have 2 petitions running at the same time, I have not posted 2 sets of dates because they have been processed either together or a few days of each other.

They'll let you know whatever else you will need to submit later on.

For now, if the DS-230 doesn't require additional forms, then just mail what is required. You should receive another letter requesting the additional requirements like police cert, etc later on.

Please don't do this without checking with the NVC first. If you do need to send supporting documentation and you send it in without , it will throw up an RFE which is a big old pain. Just call the NVC and speak to an operator. Its very easy to get through to them and they are very efficient. I call them all the time!

No. You do need to send whatever they are asking for now - not wait for the interview. The NVC will receive and review all of your documents and once your case is complete there they will forward all of your paperwork to the embassy/consulate.

I'm not sure who told you to wait and present the items at the interview, or where you read this information but it is not correct.

Good luck

Hey timster,

I just sent my DS230 and I included the following documents:

1. Petitioner's birth certificate + its photocopy

2. Petitioner's marriage certificate + its photocopy

3. Beneficiary's birth certificate + its photocopy

4. Beneficiary's marriage certificate + its photocopy

5. Beneficiary's police certificate + its photocopy

6. Beneficiary's copy of passport that includes his/her biographical information

7. 2 passport size photo

Also, you need to include divorce papers if there are any. You can send in the originals or certified copy for all the documents. NVC will review your packet, keep the photocopies and forward the originals/certified copies to the embassy. The beneficiary will obtain the documents at the time of the interview.

I hope this helps!
