Immigration attorneys often know little to nothing about immigration. He was probably concerned about getting his considerable fee to do basically nothing. Keep your money, file yourself. If your friend made a judgment on this erroneous advice I hope she is happy with it. If her fiance has income over and above the poverty guidelines he does not need even $1 in savings.

please dont get an attorney (if u were considering one)...all i hear about are the mistakes they make, the time and money they waste! its NOT a difficult process...do it yourself! best wishes! x
