Changing Return Flight?

Hi Guys.

May seem a silly question but if I were to fly to the US on the Visa Waiver program and whilst there change my return date but still within the 90 days, is that allowed and if so would I need to tell anyone?

I want to visit my fiancee and my return is set for 2 weeks but I may want to stay longer depending on if our case gets adjudicated while I am there.

Hope everyone is well and happy.

Luke and Deanna.

Problem is the POE officer may set your stay expiration to the date you indicate your return ticket.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

It will probably be fine - I did it last Aug - arrived with a 2-week ticket and then changed when there to a ticket just under the 90 days.

It's very unlikely they will mark your passport for a 2 week return but if they do you'll just have to return on your original ticket.

why dont you just buy the longer stay ticket and if needed change it to ! a shorter stay

I was looking at the VWP as a way to bring Patricia here in the event her house sells quickly before her K1 is granted. While they do require you have an exit strategy (return ticket) I didn't see anything that said the return date can't be changed. (Still keeping withing the 90 days)

Having said that, don't take my word for it. I'm just another amateur researcher going thru the same journey.

Good luck,

Bob

I would do that but I have already bought the ticket.

Thanks to everyone else for the replies.

Just to clarify, I don't need to tell anyone just as long as it's within the 90 days unless I get a stamp that says specifically when I should be leaving?

When I first met my fiance we changed a 3 week stay twice to eventually last 7 weeks and didn't have any problems. But at the time, we didn't really know what we were doing and didn't even think if there would be consequences (at this time we had to clue as to what a K-1 visa was).

Still, we had no problems other than paying the extra $100 each time. :D

I have extended a trip to the U.S. from 2 and 1/2 weeks to 1 month. My fiance (USC) called a local immigration office to see if we needed to do anything or register and they said that it didn't matter, as long as I didn't overstay the normal maximum time of a visitor visa. I assume the same would apply to anyone from a VWP country, but do call a local office if you're still concerned.
