You will need passport photos and 2 G-325A forms from your spouse.

Start here:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=i130guide1 (Superior CR-1 visa Guide)

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k3guide (K-3 Guide)

For the most part CR-1 tends to take a bit longer than K-3 to get if you prepare for NVC when they request I-864 fee, and Visa fee, as well as documents requested by NVC. In many cases the CR-1 petition reaches the consulate just before K-3 interview, which causes K-3 to get dropped and the interview becomes a CR-1 visa interview.

K-3:

I-130: $355

I-129F: NONE

Consulate: $131

Adjustment Of Status: $1010 I-485

($1496)

CR-1

I-130: $355

NVC I-864: $70

NVC Visa fee: $400 ($355+$45)

($825)

I see many posts from K-3 holders stating, "Wow this sucks, I am stuck at home because I don't have EAD, DL, etc, or I am having hard time getting added to bank accounts because of NO SSN." K-3 has a 90 day or longer period of limbo while waiting for EAD or Green-card.

K-3 was developed at a time when CR-1 was taking much longer that today, NVC has greatly streamlined the CR-1 process to the point where K-3 becomes irrelevant.

Keep this in mind in this economy, the CR-1 with it's instant green-card looks very attractive considering the cost savings, and the ability of the immigrant being able to take a job shortly after entry to the USA. K-3 has the down-side of added cost, and NOT being able to legitimately take a job until they have EAD or green-card, EAD can take 90 days or longer to get.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Wow ty for your help i had called a few agencies before finding this site you were very helpful and i appreciate that. And thank you for the organisers that put this together its wonderful.

I will probably take k3 status for starters she will not need to work when she gets here i just hope it doesnt mess up and take longer for me to get her here with me. Im sure there are many horror stories like that but i will just be careful to submit everything correctly. And lots of prayers. I will probably fly back over there in a few months im already missing her very much and its been only 5 days. My phone bill will be huge.

Again thank you all very much and extra thanks to the above poster

The guides are place to start. Don't confuse a marriage license with a marriage certificate. You must submit a marriage certificate.

A marriage license may or may not even exist. It doesn't in China. You need a marriage certificate.

You don't need her passport right now for you to file the I-130.

I got married last month (Jan) and my husband has all the papers needed for I-130. Certified true copy of our marriage certificate, passport photos, signed G325A (for myself) and a notarized evidence of bona fide marriage from third party. I guess thats what you needed for filing K3. Good luck and GOD Bless.

You should be able to get a copy of the marriage certificate in the province where the marriage takes place, just go to the same place where you got the marriage license and get a copy, that will be good enough to submit with the I-130 but you will need a NSO copy later on. It normally takes a month or to for it to get recorded at the NSO then get several copies as you will be needing them. Also get NSO copies of his birth certificate, NBI clearance, and Passport.

Send about 6 pictures of the wedding, and a few phone bills. thats really about all you need.
