No, not talking about the Barry Bonds "juicing" recipes, lol Just bought a Breville Juicer and was wondering if any one had any great vegetable/Fruits drink recipes? Trying to cut down on my coffee and eat more veggies and fruits. Thanks

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Never had a juicer, but I'd be tempted to make a citrus medley (lemon, grapefruit, orange) with some carrot in it. I think that'd taste good. I like to experiment with stuff though so you might not want to follow my intended experiments (still trying to convince Kori that I need a juicer when we end up in the same place).

I did very limited research to be honest, but the Breville one I purchased received excellent reviews. Some had used the Jack LaLane juicer inthe past, but preferred the breville machine. Ours is the Breville BJE200XL 700-Watt Compact Juice Fountain. Arrives Wednesday, so we shall see.

I don't have an exact recipe, but one of the drinks I love making includes carrots and celery as a base. And then add ginger and lime juice. Not too much ginger because that can make it too hot, but you want enough to make it tangy. And maybe 2 limes. Not sure if that's to your taste, but it's refreshing in the summer over ice. And good for you too.

I love juicing because it's a quick way to get some veggies. Except the clean up can be a pain sometimes.

My absolute fsvourite I used to make all the time when I had a juicer:

Half and half carrot and apples

a bit of ginger to taste

a piece of beet (extremely healthy and gives a beautiful colour)

All organic of course!

Enjoy!

That costs about half of the Lalane machine. Let us know what you think once you have had time to evaluate.

I had a juicer once, but I couldn't stand the fact that there was so much waste (ie all the pulp left over) - so I stopped using it and decided I would just eat the stuff

I've read that you can use the juicer pulp in sauces and as flavourings for soups and stuff--has anyone actually tried this rather than tossing that waste? Cause that's a real concern for me, too, in my quest to convince Kori I need a juicer.

Buddy's got a juicer. We made Grapegruit and Apple juice (about half and half, then modified to taste) We also used the pulp stuff exactly for what you said, we also strained the juice, and the "froth" made an apple sauce which we ate as a snack. We tried to use as much as posible, my favourite being the mango left overs, we used with Tuna steaks to make a mango salsa. It was delicious!!

Yeah I have heard of that too, use them in - muffins or whatever - yeah well, I guess if you only used it once in a while that could be handy - but if you are using it every day - especially with vegetables - unless you have a pig farm (and therefore could feed it to them) there is NO WAY you could use all the pulp left over.

I mean like citrus, strawberries etc, not a big deal - not much left - but just imagine a carrot or a piece of celery - they leave A LOT of pulp !

That said, that's just me - and wasting food bugs me - however i'm sure if you do a search there are probably a gazillion recipes for the leftovers.
