Ok, NVC sent an RFE quoting the Canadian rule that my husband has to get a fingerprint based check. So, now I am wondering about all the people I read who live outside Canada and had gone to Canada and gotten a name=based check. Were their's accepted? I have emailed NVC to request a response about whether it is acceptable for him to fly to Canada/ the Canadian site just says "present" not "residing" in Canada. We have submitted for fingerprint based certificate. Usually COmmissionaires could do this quicker, but their machine has to be inspected and could take months. we got an extra set of prints just in case they get up and running again.

I'm still determined to move this process along......the separation is getting old.

good luck to everyone else.

K

Well it looks like kzumel's file has left NVC - you might want to send her a message and see how the NVC reacted to the non-fingerprint check police certificate.

You can email David Greene (a very nice man) at Commissionaires in Canada. His email is dgreene@commissionaires-ottawa.on.ca They can do both name based and fingerprint based checks. He will send you a form and instructions. IT is very reasonable and much quicker than going to the Canadian Mounted Police.

The name based check worked fine. This certainly sped things along. My husband has been in the US for over a year. We are still apart, as he lives in NYC and i am in Maine. But at least it is a driveable distance.

You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams

I second this motion on contacting David Greene at the Commissionaires.

It took me 6 weeks to get the full meal deal, the certified fingerprint check, and that included it being missing for 10 business days or so in the mail when the RCMP sent it to the wrong building (leave it to the coppers to make things a hassle eh :P ).

The service was fantastic, and no folks, I do not work for them trying to garner up business lol.

Total bucks..... in my case it came to around 350 including all the courier fees and such (I overnighted the prints and stuff to them, they overnight the forms and results back to you, etc).

Definitely worth my while, hopefully it works out for someone else here as well.

My husband filed for a CPIC police check with his local police office in Edmonton almost a month ago, with not a peep back. I'm so glad someone mentioned Commissionaires! Because we're at the point of needing that one document to send of package IV!!

I've let him know about Commissionaires, and he'll be heading over to his local Edmonton office later this week. Anyone know how much they charge?
