Hello everyone here,

Just got my son's U.S. Passport delivered by fedex this morning (citizenship thru one u.s citizen parent & born outside U.S.) so we went right to the SSA office to apply his SS card but they told us that the Dept. of Homeland haven't release his case yet.does it make any sense? well, the lady said that they will send a letter to the Dept.of Homeland to release his case and that the system won't even let her enter his passport # so she ask for a second ID of the child to enter him into the system & we did. so she told us to call her (SSA) in 3 weeks then my husband call the USCIS again and they told him it has nothing to do with them anymore coz the child is already a citizen. anyway, maybe it just really takes a while before the system works! what you all think? Thanks

They are full of sh*t. If they can't get the SSN Assistant to take it to manually enter it into MES. Go back and see the office manager.

RM 00203.310 Evidence of U.S. Citizenship for an SSN Card

C. Procedure -- Examining and Verifying the Document Submitted as Evidence of Citizenship

Verify immigration documents with DHS using SAVE. Follow these steps when a document is submitted as evidence of citizenship. (A passport isn't a freaking DHS document)

2. Document submitted is a U.S. Passport, Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS-240), Certification of Report of Birth (DS-1350), or Certification of Birth Abroad (FS-545)

a. U.S. Passport

If the document submitted is a U.S. passport, follow RM 00203.750C. in examining the document.

If the document appears to be authentic based on the visual examination, continue processing the SS-5.

RM 00203.735 Requesting Online (Primary) Verification by SAVE

F. Procedure — Interpreting the “Eligibility Statement” Message on the SAVE Query Response

CAUTION: In some cases, the applicant may have recently naturalized but the DHS electronic record has not yet been updated and the SAVE query response does not provide information confirming the new status (e.g., still provides the message “Lawful Permanent Resident -- Employment Authorized”). In this case, continue processing the SSN application, basing the decision about whether to assign an SSN or issue an SSN card on the evidence submitted when the Certificate of Naturalization or Certificate of Citizenship appears genuine when visually examined following the guidelines in the ACM.

They don't even need to verify a Certificate of Naturalization or Certificate of Citizenship through SAVE if they look legit to process the application.

Thank you for the info. & sorry I forgot to mention that the lady in the SS office actually accepted the SS application & enter it using the child second ID though we still have to check out within 3 weeks. oh! not to mention my husband always pitching a bit** just to get things right! need to! well, after a while of dealing a lot some of it are bull***(sorry) example is just to get our son's u.s. passport right after waiting till the date end of what the passport agency told us the arrival of the passport only to get an RFE for birth cert.from NSO & foreign Passport with immigration stamp which is all submitted. (their fuc* up)after pitching a bit**calls they finally look at the papers again & told us they will expedite it and will delivered the passport thru fedex that's when it comes early this morning. one more thing we just check the status online and it shows that the passport will be mailed priority and will be with us by June 20th. isn't that shi*? anyway, seems like we really get into some of luck

Well accepting it and making you wait three weeks is not what should have happened. Should have accepted and cleared it to assign the SSN now. Have husband go back with what I posted and pitch a b*tch again. Sometimes that's the only way you can get people to do things right.
