birth certificate for I-130

The I-130 instruction doesn't say that the intending immigrant's birth certificate needs to be included with I-130. (I know I will be including it with I-485.) The guide here says that the intending immigrant's birth certificate needs to be included with I-130, and a lot of people's sample cover letters include it, too. So, what to do?

03/04/11 -- mailed I-751

03/07/11 -- I-751 received by USCIS (Day 1)

03/10/11 -- Notice of Action received (dated 3/7/11) (Day 4)

03/18/11 -- biometrics appointment letter received (dated 3/15/11) Scheduled for 4/5/11 (Day 12)

03/21/11 -- completed biometrics early! (Day 15)

04/19/11 -- got approved and card production ordered! (Day 44)

04/23/11 -- received 10-year green card in mail! (Day 48)

3/6/09 -- got married!

3/9/09 -- medical exam

3/13/09 -- got medical results back

3/14/09 -- mailed I-130, I-485, and I-765 packets

3/16/09 -- packets delivered to Chicago Lockbox at 11:47 am and signed by R Mercado (Day 1)

3/23/09 -- Notice of Action received for I-485 and I-765 dated 3/20/09, but not for I-130 :( (Day 8)

3/24/09 -- Notice of Action received for I-130 at my husband's address (Day 9)

3/26/09 -- Notice of Action for biometrics for both I-485 and I-765 arrives! Scheduled for 4/8/09. (Day 11)

3/28/09 -- completed biometrics! 10 days early! (Day 13)

5/1/09 -- received an interview letter for 6/4! (Day 47)

5/5/09 -- EAD card production ordered! (Day 51)

5/11/09 -- EAD approval notice sent (Day 57)

5/14/09 -- received EAD card! (Day 60)

6/4/09 -- Green Card approved at interview and card production ordered! (Day 81)

6/10/09 -- Welcome letter received (Day 87)

6/13/09 -- I-130 approval letter received (Day 90)

6/16/09 -- Card production ordered (again???) (Day 93)

6/29/09 -- Green Card in hand! (Day 106)

As I understand it, providing the immigrant's birth certificate used to be a requirement for the I-130. That's why if you look at old sample letters, they will have that included. If the instructions don't say you need it now (and they don't), then you do not need to include it with your I-130. However, if you have any doubts, you can always include it anyway, even if it's not required.

June 2002 we met at a mutual friend's birthday party

August 2003 we started dating

August 2006 engaged

July 20, 2008 ZAGS wedding in Moscow

May 18, 2008 church wedding in NY

June 16, 2008 we returned to Moscow for one last year

December 1, 2008 filed the I-130 through DCF at the Embassy in Moscow!

January 13, 2009 called the consulate and found out that I-130 was approved on December 22!! But still waiting for the letter in the mail

January 20, 2009 received an e-mail from the consulate that the interview is scheduled for Feb. 20th at 8AM!

January 24, 2009 received packets 3 & 4 and confirmation letter in the mail!

February 12, 2009 medical passed!

February 20, 2009 interview scheduled, but had to reschedule due to a wounded finger

March 6, 2009 new interview date---passed!!!

March 12, 2009 visa received

August 9, 2009 he arrived! (through JFK) Received IR-1 and now we're done for another three years!

August 31, 2009 permanent green card arrived

July 16, 2012 sent in N-400 for U.S. citizenship

July 23, 2012 NOA

August 10, 2012 biometrics appt.

October 5, 2012 citizenship interview (approved!)

December 7, 2012 oath ceremony. We're done!

As I understand it, providing the immigrant's birth certificate used to be a requirement for the I-130. That's why if you look at old sample letters, they will have that included. i would include it just in case..if you have it why not.. the io at my interview asked for my wife's birth certificate..
