Hello to all! My name is Kris (female) and I am completely for a loop in my situation, so am hoping to get some answers here from people with similar situations. Here is my situation.

I am a Canadian (Ontario) mother of 1, and I am engaged to an American (Florida) man

We would like to get married in Canada, but I intend on moving to the US afterwards. The reason for marriage in Canada, is purely for family gratification.

Here are a few questions off the top of my head. I'm tired so please bare with me.

- HOW do we go about getting a marriage licence and is it even possible?

- Would it just be easier to get the licence in the US?

- What about my son? What paperwork is involved in that? Do I just need full custody papers?

- How long will this all take?

I am clue-less as to where to go, where to look for help. I have googled EVERYTHING, and have found no help thus far. Then I came across this forum.

Please, for the love of humanity, tell me there is a WAY!!!

Welcome to VJ!! You'll find all sorts of wonderful information..and if you read up on the guides it will help you ever so much...

Go to the Canada forum as well, for there are many that have travelled the road ahead of you..

I myself am going through the K-1 visa, and hoping like mad that Tim and I will be married this summer. I won't be too far away from you either...I'll be living in South Carolina!!
