Yahoo Email Access

I got locked out last year. They reset the password after I verified the security question. This was via email.

Yahoo sucks.

How long did it take them to reset? I tried to use the online reset but it directs me to my internet provider like ATT who has no control over this account. I don't understand the relationship with Yahoo and ATT Yahoo and Verizon Yahoo, it all is so confusing.

Q: When I try to sign in, I see a message that my account has been locked for security reasons. What does this mean?

A: If you receive a message stating that your account has been locked for security reasons, this means that there have been too many attempts to sign in to your account with the incorrect password. As a security measure, your account has been locked to prevent unauthorized users from being able to access it.

If you haven't been trying to sign in to your account with the wrong password, this is not necessarily cause for concern. It could simply be the result of another user mistakenly thinking that your ID is theirs. (To learn more about account security, please visit the Yahoo! Security Center.)

The lock on your account will expire 12 hours after it was initially locked — the lockout period will not reset each time you attempt to sign in while the account is still locked. You can try to sign in again after the lock has expired. We are unable to provide you with the exact time that your account was locked or when it will be unlocked.

is this a paid or free account? if paid, you have a good chance to get it back. i'll hunt some to see if i can find something for you.

When I first started it several years ago I actually had to pay for the disk space but they did away with that about 5 or six years ago so it has been free since. I have tried several things but end up back at emailing them for help. I tried to do the password reset online but it always ends up sending me to various internet providers associated with Yahoo like ATT and the ATT help desk can't help me because this is purely a Yahoo account problem.

how long has this account been locked? as i've been seeing in searches, it seems it could be locked for up to 24 hours.

Already been there. That is what is so weird about this. If you go into a purely Yahoo account and try to change the password you end up at a screen with four selections, one was ATT, one was Verizon and I don't remember the other two but none can do my Yahoo account reset. This is all so really F'ed up.

I had something similar last week, where it would not recognize my sign-in and that stupid verification window. I looked for a different log in page, and I was able to log in. Here is another log in page to try:

Weird! How about http://mail.yahoo.com ?

thanks. I did another google for Yahoo phone numbers and finally got to the Yahoo help desk. Guess what, she told me that my yahoo account had been merged with my ATT account so had to connect me back to the ATT help desk. This time I got a knowledgable help desk person and she was able to reset my original Yahoo password and then had me redo my modem password too so I am finally back in business.:dance::dance::dance::dance:
