Hey Guys!

Just checked my bank account online, the check has been cashed 2/20. And my petition was mailed in 2/18 received on 2/19... Would I be able to see a case # on the back of the check? Does this mean i should be receiving my NOA 1 next week in the mail sometimes?

I'm surprised how fast the cashed the check!

this puzzles us, do they return the check back to you? enable to find this case #? or shouldn't we just wait for the NOA1 in the mail to get our case#?

like you, our check has just been cashed last 18th so we are waiting for the NOA1 and get our case # too (unless theres any other way-that i dont know). we are expecting the noa1 in the mail for the next max 2 weeks.

Anyway....goodluck to all of us. :)

Congratulations!

You'll receive NOA1 soon. The receipt number will be your USCIS case number, you can use this num to check your application status online.

Ours, it was just "Application received and case Pending"..never changed, no touching at all then one day ( February 11, 2009) there was it...APPLICATION APPROVED. So don't be discourage if you'll see the same.

Have a smooth journey.

The government never hesitates to take your money, it is non-refundable so why not run it to the bank? Yes, you should get your NOA1 soon. In essence, receiving the package IS the NOA1. It may take them a few days or a couple weeks to get around to mailing the paper NOA1. The NOA1 is nothing more than a fancy acknowledgemnt that they have received your case. If you had not attached payment they would return the whole thing to you, but as long as you paid you get the NOA1 and then the wait begins. It is NOT an indication that all is OK, you could get RFEs, those usually come a few months later. Now go to the consulate website and download packet 3 and get started on all that so it is ready before your NOA2.

If you can see copies of the banks of your checks on your bank's website, or if you go to the bank, you can get a copy of the back of your check. This will have your USCIS case number, for what it is worth. This number tracks your case while it is at USCIS and is useless after that. It is pretty much useless now. Do not count on the USCIS for any accurate information. Go to your VJ timeline and put in today, or the day they cashed your check for your NOA1 (close enough) and it will generate an estimated NOA2 date. That is the most accurate information you will ever receive on this matter.

S.IS... although much of the information and paperwork is the same, packet 3 / information packets are Embassy specific. Check with the Regional forums and/or Embassy reviews link at the top for more information regarding the Embassy you'll be dealing with.

moving to K-1 progress from discussion for obvious reasons
