Hello all,

If you are a green card holder, do you suppose to keep your foreign passport valid? I am just curious.

My Thai passport is expired next year...if nothing goes wrong with AOS process, I believe that I MIGHT get the green card before my Thai passport is expired. I am just not sure if I want to renew it right now since I have to get a new one every five years. PLUS I dont have any plans to travel right now.

Thanks guys!!!

No you do not have to keep passport valid, it can expire.

It only needs to be valid if you plan on traveling internationaly.

Thanks for the quick response!!

Another concern that I have is that I will to remove condition on two years once after I get this "in process" green-card, do i need a valid passport then?

Nope, not even then.

Removal of conditions will provide you with an extension letter extending green-card by 1 year, if it takes longer you can visit field office and request an I-551 stamp, according to procedure, if your passport is expired, the field office is supposed to use an I-94 card and place the I-551 stamp on the I-94 card.
