I checked with the US Embassy in Moscow to see if they had received our petition and what the status was. They responded with an interview date. Is there not a packet 3 and/or 4 they will send to my Fiancee? The interview date is not even posted on their site yet, but it is way out in time for 11 August.

Is it possible to request an earlier interview date?

Thanks and have a great day.

John

I'm sorry I don't have any info about the packets. I'm sure others here will have info. I think I remember something about only receiving one packet, not two.

I seriously doubt they'll allow an earlier interview date. If they would, can you imagine how most everyone would want to have an earlier interview date?! I'm simply hoping for an approval and our documents going to the Embassy for further processing! :crying:

I see from your timeline, that it took right at 3 months for approval. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll be approved soon! We've been waiting since the end of March.

Best wishes for the interview.

2005-08-10: Met Natalia and fell in love. Too bad she didn't.

2006-01-13: Married. Biggest mistake of my life.

2006-03-07: Began the I-130/I-129F process.

2006-11-01: POE - JFK / Home in Austin!

2006-11-15: She hits me and continues pattern of abuse.

2006-11-16: I filed for divorce.

2006-11-17: Wife is served divorce papers; she and daughter return to Russia.

2007-12-08: She returns to Russia "for the holidays" (lied to lawyers and court).

[many more ups and downs during this time period - mostly downs]

2008-03-26: File for bankruptcy.

2008-07-30: Bankruptcy finalized.

2008-08-27: Divorce final. Started piecing my life back together.

(See my timeline for details.)

Disclaimer: I'm just a guy who married for love, but she didn't! All she wants is money and a green card.

John,

There is only one packet which your fiancee should receive, and it should have all the info she needs regarding what to bring to the interview. It will also tell the interview date (which you already know.) She won't need to return anything to the Embassy prior to the interview. I think usually the fiancees should receive their packet within a couple weeks after the Embassy sets the intervew date. If your fiancee hasn't recevied hers by about July 1, then you should probably contact the Embassy and ask them to resend the packet.

It's almost impossible to talk the Embassy into giving you an earlier interview date. I have only heard of one instance when someone got an earlier date, and that was because his fiancee was about 7 months pregnant! They wanted to have their baby in America, so the Embassy agreed to giving them an earlier date.

Congrats on getting the interview date. (The end is in sight!!!)

As far as changing the interview date and getting it moved up, like James said, unless there's a good reason (like the 7 months pregnant thing) you'll probably have to stick with what you've got.

In reality, the date you have is not that bad, you both have a lot of stuff to do in the mean time. Her packet 3 (only one packet from Moscow) should arrive soon, and she'll have a lot of papers to fill out. Plus, she'll have to get a police check from every region she's lived in since age 16. That takes a couple weeks or months. (Have her start that now.) And you need to gather your financial "proof" (I-134, bank statements, employer letter, taxes, etc.) and send that to her.

Be patient, and use the time that you have to be thorough on your paperwork.

Good luck!!!

Thanks for the information. She has copies of all submitted forms which were included in the original I-129F submission. In addition, she has a copy of all photographs we took together. I left her that when I was there in January. She already has her police certificate and the I-134 with all attachments. As far as I know, she has everything. I did mail a letter (notarized as they requested) to my calling card company asking them for all the Call Records since last August. I hope I get it and then I can mail it to her. She and her daughter also have their immunization records updated. I hope we are not missing anything. This forum has been great in providing information.

Have a great weekend.

Try to send a few more letters (in Russian if possible) and e-mails to really "cement" the proof of an on-going relationship.

Many embassies have a packet 3 and 4 but Moscow just has one. I would not get too worried about not getting the packet yet. I was going through the process not quite a year ago and the packet arrived about 6 weeks before the interview so you should see it soon.

I sent an email requesting status.

When they confirmed the interview date they also gave the date when the packet was sent and added that it takes 2 - 3 weeks.

I've been told that it's sent "registered" though I haven't seen anyone on VJ state that's the case.

You might send them an email; they seem to be good about responding.
